Ensure wire connections are firmly connected and dry. * Turn the temperature dial to SMOKE to start the unit. The LCD screen should light up.

Clear the burn pot of any moist wood pellets and follow the Hopper Priming Procedure.

Why is the grill temperature on SMOKE setting too high on my Dansons Group Smokers?

  If the grill temperature is too high on the SMOKE setting, the "P" setting might be too low. To adjust this, turn the temperature dial to SMOKE, push the "P" SET button, and increase the "P" setting. Note that after selecting a SMOKE setting after a temperature dial preset, the auger will continuously turn and feed pellets for four minutes, raising the temperature momentarily. It will decrease and stabilize once the "P" setting cycle begins (approximately five to ten minutes).

  The "ErP" error message can appear for two reasons. One cause is that the temperature dial was not in the OFF position when last connected to AC power. To fix this, turn the temperature dial to OFF, wait two minutes, then turn the unit back on to SMOKE or your desired temperature. This safety feature prevents an inadvertent start. The other cause may be a power outage occurred while in operation. Unfortunately, the manual does not provide a solution for this case.

  If your grill displays an unexpected temperature when OFF, it means the internal temperature of the grill barrel has reached or exceeded 54°C / 130°F due to high ambient temperature and direct sun exposure. This will not harm the grill. Move the grill into a shaded area and prop the lid open to reduce the internal temperature.
