Band: This setting determines the sensitivity of the algorithm. The smaller the band, the
more the algorithm will try to correct the error. If the band setting is too low, the damper
will oscillate by being over-responsive. If the band setting is too high, the damper may
lack responsiveness. Ideally, the band setting should be as low as possible without
causing oscillation. In proportional only mode (Integration Time = 0), damper modulation
will be 100% when temperature equals setpoint + band. Range of adjustment is 0.5 to
25.0°F with a default of 2.5°F.
Integration Time: Used to incrementally change the damper modulation as a result of
an error between set point and the measured temperature. The higher Integral time
setting is, the slower the damper position will be changed. If the Integral time is set too
low the damper position could change quickly, causing oscillation. If Integral time setting
is too high, the damper may become sluggish to change. A setting of 0s puts the
algorithm in a proportional only mode, without timed integral error correction. Range of
adjustment is 0 to 999s with a default of 500s.
Conditions for damper operation:
If unit is on and all conditions listed below are met, the damper will modulate between
the Min Damper Setting and the Max Damper Setting to maintain the temperature
setpoint.
High OA Temp
In “Differential Dry Bulb” mode- The OA temperature must be lower than the inside
Return Air Temperature. If the OA temperature is greater than the inside Return Air
temperature, the damper is closed until OA temperature drops below the inside Return
Air temperature minus the OA Deadband. This mode cannot be selected in some
climate zones. In all other modes - The OA temperature must be lower than the Max OA
Temp setting (determines by the Climate Zone setting). If the OA temperature is above
the Max OA Temp setpoint, the damper will close until OA temperature is below the
Max OA Temp setpoint minus the OA Deadband.
Low OA Temp
The OA Temp must be above the Min OA Temp setting. If the OA temperature is lower
than the Min OA Temp SP (defaulted to 32F), damper is closed until OA temperature
rises above the Min OA Temp SP +OA Deadband.
High Enthalpy
In “Fixed Enthalpy” mode – The Outside Air enthalpy must be below the Hi Enthalpy
Setpoint that is based on the Climate Zone where the equipment is installed. If the
Outside Air enthalpy is above this setpoint, the damper will close until the OA enthalpy
is less than the Hi Enthalpy setpoint minus the Deadband.
In “Differential Enthalpy” mode - The Outside Air enthalpy must be less than the Inside
air enthalpy. If the Outside Air enthalpy is above the Inside air enthalpy, the damper will
close until OA enthalpy is less than the Inside air enthalpy minus Deadband.
