â The physical interface name format for the remaining HBA slots is ethXy, where X is the slot number and y is an
alphanumeric character. For example, eth5a.
â The direction of the port numbering on an HBA depends on the slot location and the type of HBA. Check the labels on each
HBA before connecting cables.
Slot assignments
The following table lists the slot assignments for the supported HBAs. The HBAs are listed in priority order.
Table 6. HBA Slot assignmentsî
Description Slot
2 x 10/25GbE SFP28, PCIe Full Height 5, 7, 8
4 x 10 GbE SFP+, PCIe Full Height 5, 7, 8
4 x 10GBT, PCIe Full Height 5, 7, 8
2 x 16G FC, PCIe Full Height 1
16 GB NVRAM, PCIe Full height 2

Intel Lewisberg, QAT, PCIe Full Height 4
2 x 12 Gbps SAS, PCIe Low Profile (internal SAS) 6
Steps
1. For 10 GBASE-T connections, use one of the following:
â Unshielded Cat 6 cables with RJ45 connectors that do not exceed 55 m.
â Cat 6A cables with RJ45 connectors that do not exceed 100 m.
2. For 10 GbE-SFP+ optical connections, see the list of qualified adapters and use an OM1 160 MHz, 2 mm to 26 m ), OM1 200
MHz, 2 mm to 33 m ), OM2 400 MHz, 2 mm to 66 m ), OM2 500 MHz, 2 mm to 82 m ), OM3 1500 MHz, 2 mm to 300 m ),
or OM 4 3500 MHz, 2 mm to400 mmm) SFP+ optical cable.
3. For FC connections, use a qualified Fibre Channel optical cable as described in the following table:

Data rate OM1 maximum length OM2 maximum length OM3 maximum length
4 Gbps 70 m 150 m 380 m
8 Gbps 21 m 50 m 150 m

Connecting disk shelf power cables
Prerequisites
Each disk shelf has two power supplies. Connect each power supply to redundant AC power sources, so the loss of one power
supply or one power source does not cause the shelf to power off.
About this task
ES40 shelves have one power cord per power supply for a total of two power cords.
Steps
1. Plug the power cords into both power supplies on the disk shelf.
2. If the disk shelf has a retention bail, secure the power cord with the retention bail. The bail prevents the power cord from
pulling out of the connector.
