Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn on the system, 
including any attached peripherals.
Midplanes
Removing the Midplanes
  CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. 
You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in 
your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service 
and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not 
covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came 
with the product.

Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect 
the system from its electrical outlet.

Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 91.

Remove the system-board assemblies. See "Removing a System-Board 
Assembly" on page 61.

Remove the cooling fans. See "Removing a Cooling Fan" on page 92.

Remove the screws that secure the cooling-fan brackets to the chassis. 
See Figure 3-26.

Lift the cooling-fan brackets out of the chassis. Figure 3-26.
