Overview

Delta Dore Radio Tybox Wireless Programmable Thermostat

The Delta Dore Radio Tybox is a wireless programmable thermostat designed for controlling heating systems in residential environments. It is available in 1-zone and 2-zone packs, with each pack containing one or two transmitters respectively. This device allows users to program their heating system to operate in either Comfort or Economy mode, providing flexible temperature control and energy efficiency.

Function Description

The Radio Tybox thermostat operates primarily through a selector knob and several modification buttons. The main operating modes include:

  • Automatic Mode (AUTO): In this mode, the thermostat follows a pre-programmed schedule, automatically switching between Comfort and Economy temperatures based on the time of day and day of the week. The display shows the current time, day, room temperature, and the active program segment. An "Override" function allows temporary deviation from the program until the next scheduled change.
  • Timer Mode (ن): This mode allows users to set a specific temperature for a defined duration, ranging from 15 minutes to 72 hours, in 15-minute increments. After the set duration, the thermostat returns to AUTO mode.
  • Continuous Mode ( ): In this mode, a constant set-point temperature (between 5°C and 30°C) is maintained indefinitely until the mode is changed.
  • Absence Mode ( ): Designed for periods of absence, this mode places the home under Frost Protection. Users can program the duration of absence (1 to 365 days), after which the thermostat automatically resumes its normal program.
  • Off Mode ( ): This mode completely shuts down the heating system.
  • Programming Mode (PROG): This mode allows users to create and modify heating schedules. The default program typically sets a Comfort period from 6:00 to 23:00. Programming can be done for individual days or copied to subsequent days. The thermostat supports both weekly and daily programming, with time increments configurable (15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour).
  • Time Setting Mode ( ): This mode allows users to set the current day, hour, and minute.

The thermostat also features an "Information" button (i) that provides access to various data, including room temperature, set-point temperature, outside temperature (with an associated sensor), total energy consumption (with a Radio Tywatt option), and electrical consumption in euros for heating, hot water, and other appliances.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Power Supply: The transmitter is powered by two 1.5V alkaline batteries (LR03 or AAA).
  • Temperature Range: Set-point temperatures can typically be adjusted between 5°C and 30°C. Specific Comfort, Economy, and Frost Protection ranges may be limited based on installation configuration (e.g., Comfort: 16-22°C, Economy: 13-19°C, Frost Protection: 5-11°C).
  • Wireless Communication: The device uses X2D wireless technology for communication with receivers (RF 640 or RF 650).
  • Compliance: Compliant with R&TTE 1999/5/CE directives.

Usage Features

  • Intuitive Interface: The selector knob and modification buttons provide a straightforward way to navigate modes and adjust settings.
  • Override Functionality: Allows for temporary adjustments to the heating schedule without altering the main program.
  • Absence Management: Simplifies energy saving during extended periods away from home with a dedicated absence mode.
  • Energy Monitoring (Optional): With the Radio Tywatt option, users can monitor their total and itemized electrical consumption, promoting energy awareness and savings.
  • Home Automation Integration: The Radio Tybox can be integrated with other Delta Dore home automation products, such as door/window magnetic contacts, alarm control units (TYXAL), TYXIA transmitters, TYDOM telephone transmitters, and TYDOM 200 remote controls.
    • Door/Window Magnetic Contact: If a contact is associated, opening a door or window automatically switches the heating to Frost Protection mode.
    • TYXIA Transmitter: Allows switching between Comfort and Economy modes until the next program change.
    • TYXAL Alarm Control Unit: Activating the alarm automatically switches the heating to Economy mode until the next program change.
    • TYDOM Telephone Transmitter: Enables remote control and status inquiry of the heating system via telephone.
    • TYDOM 200 Remote Control: Provides direct control over heating modes (Off, Comfort, Economy) from a home domain remote.
  • Program Checking: Users can review their created Comfort and Economy periods to ensure accuracy.
  • Screen Saver Mode: The display can enter a screen saver mode, showing only time and room temperature, while all heating functions remain active. Pressing any button "activates" the display.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Level Indicator: A battery level symbol appears on the display, indicating approximately one month of remaining battery life before replacement is needed.
  • Battery Replacement: The process involves separating the thermostat from its base, replacing the two 1.5V alkaline batteries (LR03 or AAA) with correct polarity, and then re-positioning and locking the thermostat on its base. Users have approximately 30 seconds to change batteries before the time settings are reset.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a section to help users quickly resolve common issues, such as no display, unit in time setting mode, inability to set the day, program modification restrictions, temperature display discrepancies, limited set-point ranges, and communication faults (dEF 6). For persistent or complex issues, users are advised to contact Delta Dore customer service or their installer.
  • No User Repair: Users are explicitly warned not to attempt to repair the unit themselves; an after-sales service is available for repairs.
