FRONT
PANEL

POWER (Power ON-STANOBY/OFF Switeh}
This switch turns the unit ON of OFF. There is # delay of
approximatety 3 seconds before the unit will operate atier
this power switch is turned ON. If the unit is turned OFF
from the remote controt, the unit will ba in the STANDBY
mode. Whan in the STANDBY mode, the unit can be turned
ON with the power button on the remote contrat. Hf the unit
will not be used for extended period, be sure to tum the
unit OFF from the fromt panel power switch.
NOTE: This unit includes # STANDBY protection feature.
. This feature is designed to prevent accidental
turn-on from the STANDBY mode in the event of
8 power failure. Should AC power be discon.
Mected and then reconnected when the unit is in
STANOBY mode, the unit will retum to the
STANOBY mode,
To tum the unit ON from the STANDBY mode
without the remote control, operate the tront
panel power switch four times. The unit will then
operate normally.
PHONES (Headphones jack}
Connect a pair of headphones (sold separately) to this jack
for private Netening.
SPEAKERS (Speaker selector switches)
These switches are used to select speaker system A and 8.
No sound Is heard through the speakers when both
switches are reset to the { um } position.
REMOTE SENSOR (Remote control sensor)
This sensor receives the infra-red light transmitted from the
wireless remote control unit.
For remote controt, point the wireless remote contro! unit
lowards the sensor.
BASS (Bass conto!)
Use this controt to adjust the low-range response.
When the controt is set to the center position, the frequency
characteristic curve [below 1.000 Hz] is flat. Turn tha contro!
clockwise to Incr the bass response and counter-
Clockwise ta decrease it.
TREBLE (Treble control)
Use thia control to adjust the bigh-range response.
When tha control is set ta the center position, the traquency
tharacteriatic curve [above 1,000 Hz) is fat. Turn the control
clockwise to increase the treble response and counter-
clockwise (0 decrease it.
BALANCE (Balance contro!)
Use this controt to balance the volume levels between left
and right channels. The volume levels in both chann:
equal when the control is set to the center position.
VARIABLE LOUONESS {Loudness control)
Al low volurnes, tha human ser is lees sensitive to low
{BASS} and high (TREBLE) frequencies. Use this contro! to
compensate for this deficiency when listening at low
volume levels. Turn this control counter-clockwise until s
natural batence of bess and treble sound hes: been
restored. :
BASS EQ (DRA-565RD only}
Press this button to switch the BASS EQ ON {=} for
emphasis of bess sounds.
Use in conjunction with the bi adjustment of the tone
control with provide further emphasis of bass sounds. Set
this switch to OFF (.m) when you wish to Hsten with @
format setting condition,
VOLUME (Volume control}
This knob ia used to adjust the volume level of both
channeis.
Tum the knob clockwise to raise the volume and counter-
clockwise to lower it.

Input selector (Input selector buttons)
Thess buttons are used lo select the Budio input source.
« PHONO: Press to play a record on a tecord player
connecied to the PHONO input Jacks.
« CO: Press ta fisten to a compact disc pisyer or
another component connected to the CO Input
jacks.
« TUNER: Press to listen to FM of AM programs
© VIDEO: Use whan playing back the audio from a HI-Fi
video, video dise player or other component
connected to the VIDEO terminal.
@ Tape selector (Tape selector/monitor buttons)
(DRA-4SESRD}
TAPE-1; Press this Dutton once, TAPE-1 indicator will
Hight up and then you can play tepe sourca on TAPE-1
terminal.
In this state you can copy TAPE-1 source to TAPE-2
terminal.
TAPE-2: Presa this bution ones, TAPE-2 indicator will
fight up and then you can play tape or video source of
TAPE-2 terminal.
Presa again the button currently accessed, to play
sources selected by input selector @, Indicator goes out.

Press this button once, TAPE Indicator will light up and
then you can play tape source on the TAPE terminal,
Press again the bution currently accessed, to play
sources selected by inpul selector @, indicators goes oul.
ROS button
This bution is used for the ADS search (refer to page 12)
and PTY search (refer 10 page 12), and TP search (reler to
page 12) operations, and to input the station name (refer to
pege 12, 13).
BAND (Band selector switch)
Press this switch to select ihe FM or AM (MW} band.
AUTO {Tuning mode button}
This switches between auto and manual tuning.
Auto tuning: When the UP button is pressed, the radio is
tuned automatically to s higher frequency. Press the
DOWN button to tune to & lower frequency. Use this
position to eliminate noise when no signals or weak signals
are being received. /
Manuel tuning: In this poshion, the radio can de tuned
manualty. Reception is automatically monaural when in the
manuel mode.
TUNING (Tuning buttons)
Use these to change the received frequency to 4 higher
frequency (UP) of a lower frequency (DOWN).
When writing station names. use these buttons to select
the letters. (Refer to Page 13.)
MEMORY (Memory button)
‘This switch Is used to store the desired radio station lo »
memory.
© Presetting stations
After preseing the MEMORY button, press the SHIFT/
PTY button to select the memory block, A io E. Now use
the PRESET UP end DOWN buttons to specify the preset
channel number. Presa the MEMORY button agin to
Gore the station at the specified preset channel,
Prosat (Preset station buttons)
Thess duttons ars used for storing stations of recalling
stations which have been preset. Using the SHIFT button
you can preset a [otel of 40 FM or AM stations into preset
channels,
Once 8 radio has been memorized, the same station can
later be tuned in instantly simply by recailing the corres:
ponding preset channet with PRESET UP or DOWN buttan,

RDS indicator
This fights when receiving ADS broadcasts, and Hashes
during the ROS search operations.
TA indlestor
This lights when receiving traffic announcements.
TP indicator
This flashes during the TP search operation end lights
whan TP stations are tuned in,
PTY Indicator
This fleahes during the PTY (Programme type} search
operation,
TUNED Indicator
This lignis when 8 station is properly tuned in.
STEREO Indicator
This tighta when recalving stereo broadcasts. H remains of
when receiving AM broadcasts.
AUTO Indicator
This indicates the tuning mode. It fights in the auto mode,
and remains off in the manual mode.

REAR PANEL

FM ANT (FM antenna terminals)
75-ohm coaxial cable can be connected to this terminal. For
antenna connecting procedure, see the ANTENNA IN-
STALLATION.
GND (Grounding terminal)
The grounding wire of the turntable is connected here.
« Hum of noise may be generated if the grounding wire
ot connected.
AM ANT (AM antenna terminals)
Connect the attached AM loop antenna. iReter to page 10
for connections}.
Connect to this terminal when a medium wave outdoor
antennae is used.
PHONO (Phono Input terminsis}
The output cord of the turntable is connected here.
Since the Input sensitivity of “PHONO* is extremety high,
do not use the unit without the Input pin cord. if used
without this cord, the speakers may generate hum.

The output cord of the CD player is connected here.
VIDEO
A VIOEO, such #8 & VCR or Video Disc may be connected
here.
© TAPE-1, TAPE-2 (Tape deck playback / recording
terminal} (ORA-S6SAD)
Two tape decks of tape deck can be connected to these
jacks for fult-fedged playback. tecording and tape
dubbing operation.
PE (DRA-3eSAD)
Tape decks can be connected for full use including
Playing of copying.

MEMO indicator
This indicator lights for approximately 10 seconds when
the MEMORY button has been pressed and @ station can be
stored on » PRESET CHANNEL button.

CH indicator
This lights when the preset channel number and shift mode
(A. B, C, © or E) are disptayed.

The TAPE-1 indicator lights when the TAPE-1 source 1s
selected with the (spe selector buttons, The TAPE-2
indicator tights when the TAPE-2 source is selected,

selected with the tape selector buttons.
Muli function display
This displays the frequency, station name, Programme
type, etc.
PRE-OUT (DRA-565RD only)
Output signais for power amplitiers sre sent trom these
jacks.
The rated output is 2 volts,
SPEAKER SYSTEMS (Speaker terminals}
Two pairs of speakers A and B can be connected to these
terminats.
AC OUTLET (AC power outlets)
This AC outlet is controlled by the power ewitch and
Remoto controtunit {DRA-SESAD). controlled by the power
switch [ORA-365R0}.
AC CORO (Power cord)
Connect this cord into the wall outtet.
