Overview

The DeVilbiss 704427 (DGIPRO-505) is an ATEX-approved Digital Pressure Gauge designed for use with DV1 Sprayguns. This device is intrinsically safe and has received approvals to regulations UL61010-1 Ed.3, UL60079-0 Ed.6, and UL60079-11 Ed.6, ensuring its suitability for hazardous environments classified as Class 1 Zone 0 AEx ia IIC T4. The gauge can be acquired either as a retrofit kit for existing DV1 sprayguns or as a factory-installed component.

Function Description

The DV1 Digital Pressure Gauge serves to provide precise pressure readings for the DV1 Spraygun, enhancing control and accuracy during spraying operations. It is powered by a long-life battery, designed to last approximately two years under normal shift working conditions, following a maximum two-year shelf life. The gauge displays pressure readings in 1.0 psi [0.07 bar] increments, starting from 4 psi [0.28 bar]. This allows operators to accurately adjust the air flow valve to achieve the desired pressure for their specific application. The device is designed to be compatible with both water-based and solvent-based coating materials and cleaners, offering versatility in various finishing operations.

Usage Features

Operating the DV1 Digital Pressure Gauge involves a straightforward start-up sequence. To begin, the spreader valve (10) should be turned counter-clockwise until it is fully open. Next, the air flow valve (12), located at the bottom of the gun handle, needs to be turned clockwise until fully closed. Once the hose is connected, the air supply can be turned on. The air flow valve (12) is then opened by turning it counter-clockwise, and the spray gun should be triggered (air only). The gauge will then display pressure readings, allowing the operator to adjust the flow valve until the required pressure value is shown.

The device is designed for ease of integration and use within existing workflows. Its digital display provides clear and immediate feedback on pressure, which is crucial for consistent and high-quality finishing. The intrinsic safety approval means it can be used in environments where flammable gases or vapors may be present, providing a safe solution for professional applications. The gauge's robust construction, featuring a die-cast aluminum housing with chrome plating and a toughened glass window, ensures durability and reliability in demanding industrial settings. Chrome-plated brass and anodized aluminum are used for valve parts, further contributing to its longevity and performance.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance of the DV1 Digital Pressure Gauge is designed to be minimal and straightforward, primarily focusing on proper cleaning and replacement when necessary. The gauge is suitable for cleaning in a gun washing machine while still attached to the spray gun. However, it is important to consult with the manufacturer of the gun washing machine to confirm its suitability with this product.

It is crucial to note that the digital gauge is not designed to be dismantled or serviced by the user. The battery is not replaceable, and once it is discharged, the complete gauge assembly must be replaced. Users are explicitly cautioned against attempting to dismantle the gauge under any circumstances.

For cleaning, DeVilbiss recommends using a neutral cleaning solution with a pH between 6 and 8 to prevent premature degradation of parts. The digital gauge is not designed to be cleaned within an ultrasonic bath.

To ensure safe operation and prevent hazards, several guidelines must be followed:

  • The gauge must be connected to a hose made from a conductive material and properly earthed, with a resistance of less than 1MΩ, to minimize the risk of static electricity from air and/or fluids.
  • Only original spare parts and accessories, as detailed in the product bulletin, should be used to avoid creating hazards.
  • The maximum static inlet pressure of 100 psi [7 bar] must not be exceeded, as this could result in injury to the user.
  • If the gauge sustains physical damage or if the plating is damaged, exposing the base metal, its use should be immediately discontinued, especially in hazardous (zoned) areas.
  • The device should not be used or stored in temperatures below 32°F [0°C] or above 105°F [40°C].

In cases of doubt regarding the suitability of a specific material or any other operational concerns, users are advised to contact their DeVilbiss Distributor or DeVilbiss directly. Adherence to these guidelines ensures the safe and effective operation and longevity of the DV1 Digital Pressure Gauge.
