Function Description:
The DCV586M is intended for picking up dry and non-flammable dusts, liquids, wood chips, mineral dusts containing quartz, and hazardous dusts with exposure limit values greater than or equal to 0.1 mg/m³ (Dust Class M as per IEC/EN60335-2-69). It features an automatic filter cleaning system that minimizes filter clogging by cleaning one of the two filters every 20 seconds. The unit also includes a Wireless Tool Control mode, allowing it to be controlled by a paired DEWALT tool or a remote. Water level sensor probes automatically shut off the dust extractor when the maximum liquid fill level is reached, preventing overflow during wet pick-up applications.

Usage Features:
- Battery Installation/Removal: Battery packs are inserted into the battery port until fully seated and removed by pressing the battery release button. Fuel gauge on some battery packs indicates charge level.
- Hose Connection: The hose attaches to the dust extractor by pressing the hose release latch and inserting the hose end into the inlet. The hose inlet plug can be used to cover the inlet when the hose is removed for transport or cleaning.
- Dust Bag/Fleece Bag: An optional paper bag or fleece bag (DCV9401/DCV9402) can be used for easier emptying of fine dust. Bags are installed by aligning tabs with notches on the dust extractor head and rotating.
- Operation Modes: A three-position switch controls the dust extractor: Off (O), On (I), and Wireless Tool Control (2).
- Flow Rate Alarm: An acoustic alarm sounds if the flow rate falls below 20 m/s. The hose selection switch (15) must be set to the correct hose diameter to ensure accurate alarm function.
- Low Battery Alarm: A quick, intermittent beep indicates low battery life, prompting the user to charge the battery.

Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning the Tank: The tank should be emptied when full, and filters should be cleaned or replaced as needed.
- Filter Care: The dust extractor includes long-life filters that must be correctly installed and in good condition. Filters should not be cleaned with compressed air or a brush, but can be rinsed with room temperature water and air-dried if necessary. Filters should be replaced if damaged or if the automatic cleaning system becomes ineffective.
- General Maintenance: The appliance requires a technical inspection at least once a year by DEWALT Service or a trained person to check for damage, air leakage, and proper operation of control devices.
- Decontamination (Class M): For Class M vacuum cleaners, the exterior of the dust extractor must be decontaminated by dust extraction and wiped clean or sealed in a suitable container before removal from a contaminated area. All parts are considered contaminated when removed from a hazardous area.
- Lubrication: The dust extractor requires no additional lubrication.
- Charger Cleaning: Chargers should be disconnected from the AC outlet before cleaning. Use a cloth or soft non-metallic brush; avoid water or cleaning solutions.
- Battery Pack Disposal: Rechargeable battery packs should be run down completely, then removed and taken to a dealer or local recycling station. Li-ion cells are recyclable.
- Storage: Store the dust extractor in a cool, dry room, secured from unauthorized use, with the three-position switch in the OFF (O) position. The hose inlet plug can be used to keep debris out of the canister.
