PLAYMAKER™/PLAYMAKER™ II KNEE BRACE with Fourcepoint Hinge
Indications for use: The DonJoy Playmaker II brace with
Fourcepoint Hinge is designed to support and protect the knee
following mild MCL, LCL or ACL instabilities and meniscal repairs.
Soft-good/ semi-rigid designed to restrict motion through elastic or
semi-rigid construction.
Contraindications: PCL instabilities, moderate to severe ACL, MCL,
and PCL instabilities. Do not use if you are allergic to any of the
materials contained in this product.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR HINGE ADJUSTMENT
Resistance Adjustment Screws (A)
Remove allen wrench from inside of bag. Remove and re-insert
adjustment screw into desired location according to patient’s
comfort and physician’s rehabilitation protocol (1-low, 2-medium,
3-high). Push adjustment screw down until threads contact surface
of hinge (A1) turn Allen key to tighten adjustment until top of
screw is flush with hinge surface (A1). Do not over tighten. Repeat
procedure for other hinge. Both hinges must be on the same
setting.
Changing Standard External Flexion Stops (Fig. B)
Completely remove screw. Remove the stop and insert the new
stop. Align with the hole in the hinge plate, reinsert the screw, and
tighten. Repeat procedure for other hinge. Both hinges must have
the same stop.
Turn Resistance On And Off. (Fig. C)
Place brace in flexion, insert tool into on/off slot (C1) and slide over.
The “O” represents the brace is “off” or has no resistance. When
moved away from “O” the brace is “on” or has resistance. Once
adjustment is made to both hinges, replace tool in slot.
PLAYMAKER WITH DROPLOCK HINGE
Indications for use: The DonJoy Playmaker with Droplock Hinge is
designed to support the knee during ACL rehabilitation. Soft-good/
semi-rigid designed to restrict motion through elastic or semi-rigid
construction.
Contraindications: Severe quad deciency and knee pathology. Do not
use if you are allergic to any of the materials contained in this product.
LOCKING AND UNLOCKING DROPLOCK: To engage DropLock simply straighten leg, DropLock will
engage 10° before full extension. To disengage DropLock, sit with leg fully extended and press buttons
on both hinges. (Fig. D)
CAUTION: Before walking in brace, be sure both hinges have fully locked. To disengage hinge, sitting is
recommended.
FREEING HINGE FROM LOCKING DEVICE:
While DropLock is disengaged, rotate the lever around from the locked position to unlocked position so
that the DropLock button is covered by lever. (Fig. E) Before walking, be sure both hinges have button
covered by lever. To engage DropLock again, rst sit down and straighten leg. Next, take a pen and push
the button down while turning the lever to the unlock position. (Fig. F)
USE AND CARE:
If during activity, re-tightening is necessary, re-tighten all straps following steps in the application
instructions.
All straps and pads may be trimmed to t individual variations in limb circumference.
The brace may be used in fresh or salt water. Following use in water activities, drain thoroughly and rinse
with clean, fresh water and then air dry.
Hand wash in cold water (86 °F/30 °C) with mild detergent. AIR DRY ONLY.
The hinge mechanism requires little maintenance in normal use. However, you may apply a
dry lubricant such as a Teon® spray to the internal mechanism of the hinge. Dry lubrication is
recommended following use in water.
Periodically inspect hinge screws for tightness and retighten as needed.

936-6569. The warranty, expressed and implied, shall not apply to any brace which has been repaired
and/or serviced by anyone other than DJO personnel or by a person authorized to perform such activities by DJO. Any modication of brace will
result in termination of warranty.
