Coolant Level – Check
WARNING
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is
hot and under pressure.
Steam can cause personal injury.
Check the coolant level only after the engine
has been stopped and the filter cap is cool
enough to touch with your bare hand.
Remove the filter cap slowly to relieve pressure.
Cooling system conditioner contains alkali.
Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent
personal

Observe the coolant level with engine cold.
Maintain coolant level to the proper line on
expansion bottle. If the expansion bottle has no
coolant, it will be necessary to check coolant at the
radiator filter neck.
Remove the radiator cap. Fill radiator to the top of
the filter neck. Inspect radiator cap. Replace if
damaged. Install the radiator cap.
Start and run the engine to stabilize the coolant
level in the filter neck. If low, add coolant until it
reaches the top of the filter neck. Install the radiator
cap. Observe coolant level in the expansion bottle.
If necessary, add coolant to bring the coolant to the
appropriate line on the expansion bottle.
Stop the engine.
Inspect the cooling system for leaks, hose cracks or
loose connections.
WARNING
Pressure air can cause personal injury.
When using pressure air for cleaning, wear a
protective face shield, protective clothing and
protective shoes.
Maximum air pressure must be less than 205
kPa (30 psi) for cleaning purposes.
Blow any dust and lint from the radiator fins.
