MUXD 19" (B6L 19")
1. General Information
66
1.4 Functional principle
The MUXD terminal multiplexer allows simple installation of
DP1 or TP4 components in a star configuration. The advan-
tage of the MUXD module, as opposed to bus wiring, is that
it allows spurs to be used. Either DP1 or TP4 components
with up to 2 x 8 RS485 buses can be connected to a TP4
host system.
A maximum of 31 two-wire components can be connected
to the MUXD module.
The MUXD module is transparent for protocols to and from
the host. The delay time is a maximum of three byte peri-
ods. Simultaneous operation of DP1 and TP4 with an MUXD
is not possible.
A cascading of the MUXD is not permitted.
Housing:
Because structured wiring techniques are required, the
device is installed in a 19'', 1HE housing similar to B6L.
A maximum of two MUXD modules can be accommodated
in the 19" housing, so up to 2 x 8 two-wire buses are avail-
able.
Host system:
Either the TP4 host system is an external device, e.g. B6L,
or the TP4 module is combined directly with the MUXD in
the same housing. This results in a compact, LAN-compat-
ible host system to which up to 31 DP1 or TP4 two-wire
components can be connected in a star configuration.
