5 How to Use the VariZapper
5.1 Placement of the Electrodes
Make sure that the VariZapper is turned off. Place the electrodes on your skin. The contact surface between
the skin and the electrodes must be at least 8 cm² (1¼ square inches). Larger electrodes (12 cm² or 2
square inches) are recommended. Any electrodes may be used as long as they match the specifications
described here. Inspect the contact of the electrode with the skin. Give special attention when using wrist
bands to be sure they are not so tight as to obstruct blood circulation. Connect the plugs of the cable to the
electrodes and plug the cable into the connection on the front of the device.
W
hen using stick-on gel electrodes, these should not be placed in the following places: close to the eyes, in
the mouth, on the neck, on the head, near the heart or genitals, except at
direct order and responsibility and under the supervision of a qualified,
trained and authorized specialist. Placement of the electrodes in the region
of the upper body can increase the risk of ventricular fibrillation. Gel
electrodes should only be used on undamaged and clean skin surfaces. Gel
electrodes may be used several times. When they no longer stick or the gel
layer is impacted, they should be replaced. Do not moisten the gel
electrodes.
Before using wrist electrodes, please moisten the yellow parts of them for
proper skin contact.
5.2 Operating the Device
The VariZapper is powered by a 9 V block battery. Before operating the device the battery must be inserted
into the battery compartment.
To inse
rt the battery, follow these steps:
Turn the device around, so that you look at its back side.
Pull down the lever of the battery compartment cover.
Push the battery cover to the back and remove it.
Remove the used battery from the battery compartment.
Place the new battery into the compartment, paying
attention to the positive and negative poles. Refer to the
diagram inside the battery compartment.
Close the battery compartment with the cover until it is
completely latched.
In a longer period of non-use the battery shall be take
out of the device.
