Assembly and preparation
Screw the sample line on to the water trap (1) and to the Y-piece, HME filter or
hose adapter (2).
Ensure the following:
– Ensure the correct course of the sample line.
– Do not use adapters.
– Particularly when ventilating pediatric patients and neonates, a sample line
connection close to the patient can improve the quality of the measured CO
2
values. Observe the following information: "Improving the CO
2 measurement
by means of an HME filter", page 308.
– When tube adapters are used for the sample line connection, make sure the
volume (dead space) is small.
