14 Instructions for use VarioLux
Device combinations
This device can be operated in combination with other Dräger
devices or with devices from third-party manufacturers. Follow the
accompanying documents of the individual devices.
If a device combination is not approved by Dräger, the safety and
the functional integrity of the individual devices may be
compromised. The operating organization must ensure that the
device combination complies with the applicable editions of the
relevant standards for medical devices.
Device combinations approved by Dräger meet the requirements
of the following standards:
IEC 60601-1 (general safety requirements)
IEC 60601-1-2 (electromagnetic compatibility)
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
Medical electrical equipment is subject to special precautionary
measures concerning electromagnetic compatibility. During
installation and before initial operation, follow the information in
section: "EMC declaration" (page 20).
This device can be affected by other electrical devices.
Training
Training for users is available via the respective Dräger
organization (see www.draeger.com).
Functional safety
The essential performance characteristics of lights are as follows:
Illumination of the treatment area,
Reduction of heat radiation in the treatment area.
Obligation to report incidents
Serious incidents involving this medical device must be reported
to Dräger and the relevant authorities.
Product-specific safety information
Use
Intended use
Medical examination light for local illumination of the human body,
to support diagnosis or treatment. The examination light is
intended for continuous operation.
Environments of use
The VarioLux examination light is intended for use in medical
rooms and intrahospital patient transport, but not for use in
operating rooms.
WARNING
Use this product only in rooms that are dry and not subject
to explosion hazards.
WARNING
Risk of personal injury
If the light fields of several lights are focused on a single
point, total thermal radiation may exceed 1000 W/m
2
.
WARNING
Risk of electric shock
Do not use the light and the power cable if damaged. The
medical device must be checked regularly for damage.
WARNING
Risk of damage to the eyes
Avoid direct illumination of the eyes.
WARNING
Risk of damage to the device due to overheating
Do not store or use the light below a source of heat.
CAUTION
Operating the medical device not in compliance with the intend-
ed ambient conditions may lead to damage to the medical de-
vice.
NOTE
Do not apply additional weight to the light head or the hinged
arms.
NOTE
Do not partially or completely cover the light head when using the
light.
