DUPLEX STEAM DESCALING
To maximise the performance and life span of your steam machine it is vital to carry out regular
maintenance. This involves scale prevention and removal.
Always wear gloves when maintaining the steam generator.
Scale Prevention:-
Using Duplex Hydroscale regularly helps to minimise scale build
up in the heating chamber and the outlet steam pipe. Hydroscale
should be used as indicated on the container. The machine can
be used normally with the diluted Hydroscale in the clean water
tank.

Scale Removal:-
Supplied with each Duplex steam tank is a 2.5mm Allen key, use this to remove the small grub
screw situated at the end of the stainless steel plate on the side of the steam kit (pic1).
Every 2 weeks (or less in very hard water areas) before using the steam generator, remove this
screw and run the machine (with the brushes removed) with the steam generator connected to
the clean water tank filled with diluted Hydroscale (you can also flush the unit with undiluted
Hydroscale, place the small sample Hydroscale bottle next to the machine with the black pipe
inserted directly into the bottle), any scale should be forced out of the steam outlet pipe.
Check that the exit holes (pic 2) are clear and clean (a paper clip can be used to unblock these
holes) Always wear gloves when maintaining the steam generator, the stainless steel plate does
get hot. Replace the grub screw after clearing/cleaning the pipe.
