Jump-Starting a
Vehicle's
Engine
4. Connect the cables to the jump-start cable port on the left
side
of
the Duracell® Powerpack.
5.
Position the Duracell® Powerpack on a flat, stable
surface near the battery and away from all moving parts
of
the engine.
6.
Connect the red positive (+) clip
of
the cables to the
positive
(+) terminal
of
the engine battery.
The battery's positive terminal
is
usually larger in
diameter than the negative terminal. In most vehicles, the
battery's positive terminal has a red wire connected to it.
7.
Connect the black negative
(-)
clip
of
the cables to the
engine block, cylinder head, or other stationary heavy
metal part
of
the motor, or to the negative
(-)
battery
terminal.
Before starting the engine, make sure the Duracell®
Powerpack and the cables are clear
of
belts and fans. Do
not crank the engine for more than 4 seconds.

The jump-start feature is designed for short term operation
only-
less than 4 seconds. Operating the jump-start feature for more than
4 seconds may cause damage to the unit. Allow the Duracell®
Powerpack to cool down for at least 3 minutes after each jump-
start.
8.
Remove the red positive (+) clip and then the black
negative
(-)
clip from the vehicle's battery terminal.
9. Remove the cables from the jump-start cable port.
Important: Recharge the Duracell® Powerpack as soon as
possible after each use. See "Recharging the Duracell®
Powerpac~i>00_
