Why EGO STA1600 Trimmer won't start?
    • E
      Emma HooperAug 13, 2025
If your EGO Trimmer won't start, there are several potential causes: * The battery pack may not be properly attached. Ensure it's securely connected to the power head. * There might be poor electrical contact between the power head and battery. Remove the battery, inspect the contacts, and reinstall it until it clicks into place. * The battery pack could be depleted. Charge it using EGO chargers listed in the power head manual. * The lock-off lever and trigger might not be engaged simultaneously. Refer to the "STARTING/ STOPPING THE POWER HEAD" section in the manual for models PH1420/PH1420-FC/PH1400/PH1400-FC.

How to fix EGO Trimmer head that will not advance line?
    • W
      Willie LeAug 16, 2025
If the trimmer head on your EGO Trimmer isn't advancing the line, consider these possibilities: * The drive shaft or trimmer head may be tangled with grass. Stop the trimmer, remove the battery, and clean both components. * There might not be enough line on the spool. Remove the battery and replace the cutting line, following the "LOADING THE CUTTING LINE" instructions. * The line could be tangled within the spool. Remove the battery, take out the line, and rewind it properly, again referring to the "LOADING THE CUTTING LINE" instructions. * The line might be too short. Remove the battery and manually pull the lines while pressing and releasing the trimmer head alternately.

Why the cutting line cannot be wound into the EGO STA1600 head properly?
    • R
      Rebecca GarciaAug 19, 2025
If you're having trouble winding the cutting line into the trimmer head of your EGO Trimmer, here are some possible reasons: * You might be using an improper cutting line. It's recommended to use EGO original nylon cutting line; check the “Recommended Cutting Line” section. * Grass debris or dirt could have accumulated in the trimmer head, blocking the line spool's movement. Remove the battery, open the trimmer head, and clean it thoroughly. * The motor might be overheating due to repeatedly operating the line winding system. Let the string trimmer run under no load for a few minutes to cool the motor, then try reloading the line. * The battery charge might be low. Try charging the battery.

Why the cutting line cannot be passed through the EGO STA1600 Trimmer head?
    • E
      elopezAug 23, 2025
If the cutting line won't pass through the trimmer head of your EGO Trimmer when you're inserting it, the cutting line might be split or bent at the end. Cut the worn end of the line and reinsert it. Also, the lower cover might not be released to the correct position after reinstalling. Attach the battery pack onto the trimmer and press the line loading button to briefly start the power loading to reset the lower cover.

Why does grass wrap around the EGO STA1600 Trimmer head?
    • X
      xfaulknerAug 31, 2025
If grass is wrapping around the trimmer head and motor housing of your EGO Trimmer, it might be because you're cutting tall grass at ground level. Try cutting tall grass from the top down, removing no more than 8 inches (20 cm) in each pass to prevent wrapping.

    • C
      Cole DeanSep 4, 2025
Cracks on the trimmer head or a loose spool retainer on your EGO Trimmer may indicate that the trimmer head is worn out. Replace the trimmer head immediately, following the "TRIMMER HEAD REPLACEMENT" section. Also, the nut that locks the trimmer head could be loose. Open the trimmer head and use a 14 mm socket or impact wrench to tighten the nut.

What to do if my EGO STA1600 Trimmer stops while cutting?
    • P
      Paul PriceNov 26, 2025
Your EGO Trimmer might stop while cutting due to several reasons: * The guard might be missing, leading to an overly long cutting line and motor overload. To fix this, remove the battery pack and mount the guard on the trimmer. * You might be using a heavy cutting line. Use the recommended nylon cutting line with a diameter no greater than 0.095 inches (2.4 mm). * The drive shaft or trimmer head could be bound with grass. Stop the trimmer, remove the battery, and clear the grass from these components. * The motor might be overloaded. Remove the trimmer head from the grass to allow the motor to recover. When cutting, move the trimmer head in and out of the grass, removing no more than 8 inches (20 cm) in a single pass. * The battery pack or trimmer might be too hot. Allow them to...
