COVER HEM NARROW
Select 10 and set up machine.
The cover hem measures 2.5 mm in width. It
uses two needles and the chain looper to form
what look like parallel straight stitches.
Common Uses
Hem finish on knit fabrics.
Topstitching.
Pintucks.
Thread in the following sequence:
1
brown thread for chain looper (I)
2
red thread for L1 needle (D1)
3
yellow thread for L2 needle (E)
NOTE: The needle threads should be
separated in the last two guides with the red
to the left.
CHAINSTITCH
Select 10 and set up machine.
IMPORTANT: Set needle thread tension dial
(blue) to "1".
A 2 thread chainstitch or double chainstitch
uses one needle and the chain looper to form
a straight stitch. The chainstitch is a stable
stitch that has a slight amount of stretch not
present in the straight stitch sewn by a
conventional sewing machine.
Common Uses
Construction method on woven fabrics to
create an open seam allowance.
Sew knitwear together where the seam
needs to be stable.
Sew on bias tape.
Thread in the following sequence:
1
brown thread for chain looper (H)
2
blue thread for L2 needle (A)
