The ENFORCER SA-027HQ 365-Day Annual Timer is a versatile device designed to automate the operation of two Form C relays over an entire year. This timer is suitable for a wide range of applications, including security systems, access control, lighting management, and environmental control. Its primary function is to provide scheduled control of connected devices, offering both daily and weekly programming options.
The SA-027HQ features two independent Form C relays, each capable of handling up to 10A at 14VDC. These relays can be programmed for up to 99 individual events per relay, totaling 198 programmable events. Each event can be scheduled on a weekly, daily, or hourly basis, allowing for precise control throughout the year. The device supports block programming, which simplifies the setup of recurring events on consecutive days, such as Monday through Friday or Saturday and Sunday schedules.
A key feature of this annual timer is its ability to manage holidays. Users can program up to 20 specific holidays, during which the normal operation of the timer will be suspended. This ensures that scheduled events do not interfere with special days or non-working periods. For events that should occur on a holiday, the timer allows for "holiday events" to be programmed specifically for those dates, overriding the general holiday disable function.
The timer also includes a "first-person-in" function, which can temporarily suspend the timer's operation. When an optional N.O. switch is activated, this function takes effect. If a relay is already active before the "first-person-in" function is engaged, it will remain on until the switch is deactivated. Once deactivated, the timer will resume its last programmed function prior to the interruption.
Event outputs can be configured for various operations: disable (shunt), ON, OFF, or momentary (with a duration from 1 to 99 seconds). This flexibility allows the timer to control a wide array of devices, from simple lights to more complex access control mechanisms.
For applications requiring simultaneous operation of both relays, a "tandem mode" is available. When enabled, this mode causes both relays to trigger together, simplifying programming for synchronized actions.
Programming the SA-027HQ is facilitated by an alphanumeric backlit LCD display and two buttons: "SEL" (Select) and "ENTER." The "SEL" button is used to navigate through the menu options, while the "ENTER" button is used to change and confirm selections. Holding down the "ENTER" button allows for rapid cycling through numerical options, which is particularly useful for setting times or event durations.
The device offers passcode protection, which can be enabled or disabled, to prevent unauthorized tampering with programmed settings. The factory preset PIN code is 0000. In case the PIN code is forgotten, a recovery procedure involving power cycling and holding the "ENTER" button allows the user to reset it to 0000.
The timer automatically compensates for leap years, ensuring accurate date tracking. Users can also set the timer for Standard Time or Daylight Savings Time, with options for various regions (USA, Europe West, Europe Central, Europe East) or a simple "Add 1hr" function.
The display contrast is adjustable from 00 to 10, allowing users to optimize readability. This can be set through the menu or by simultaneously pressing and holding the "SEL" and "ENTER" buttons.
A system test function is included, allowing users to manually toggle each relay ON and OFF to verify its operation. This is a useful diagnostic tool for installation and troubleshooting.
The timer's memory can be cleared, resetting all programmed events and settings (except the PIN code) to their default values. This is a convenient feature for reconfiguring the timer or starting fresh.
The SA-027HQ is designed with robust memory retention features. It utilizes EEPROM memory to store and protect programming instructions, ensuring that settings are preserved even in the event of a power failure.
For short-term power outages, a built-in clock backup capacitor maintains the correct date and time for 7-10 days after power loss, provided the capacitor has been fully charged (which typically takes about 24 hours).
The device also includes a smart backup battery charger for an external 12VDC lead-acid backup battery (not included). This smart charging feature prolongs battery life by only charging when necessary. Charging begins if the battery voltage drops below 11.5V and stops when it reaches 12.8V. The charger will remain on standby until the battery voltage again falls below 11.5V or after two weeks, whichever comes first. This intelligent management prevents overcharging and extends the lifespan of the backup battery.
The timer provides a way to check the power input voltage and the current backup battery level directly from the home screen by pressing the "ENTER" button. This allows users to monitor the power status and ensure the backup battery is functioning correctly.
To protect the relays, it is crucial to install a 1N4004 diode (for DC-powered locks) or a varistor/MOV (for AC-powered or electromagnetic locks) in parallel with the power supply and as close to the lock as possible. Failure to do so will void the warranty, highlighting the importance of proper installation for device longevity.
