Doc. P/N 8.8517.00.6
Rev. December, 2019
No special maintenance work is required. The assembly is maintenance-free due to its basic design and concept.
Maintenance could consist of periodic visual inspections, consistent with the operating parameters and severity of
service. Periodically the wetted parts (diaphragm, pressure port) should be inspected for excessive dust deposits and if
necessary cleaned by vacuuming, see ‘Routine Inspections’.
5. TROUBLESHOOTING
5.1. General
Routine system inspections shall be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the appropriate local authority
having jurisdiction.
During initial system check-out or start-up, the Fike Service Engineers may, due to process operational characteristics
and or historical inspection data on the specific process, determine that an additional inspection is required other that
the routine inspections as detailed below.
It is extremely important to closely monitor the operational characteristics of your system during the first few days
and weeks after initial start-up.
Any maintenance or repair other than routine inspection requires the pressure detector to be response tested by Fike
to insure that the detector can be accepted.
5.2. Routine Inspections
Routine inspections shall be conducted on a quarterly basis and involves a visual inspection of the detector’s electrical
connections (are all connections still tight?), look for excessive wear (mechanical damage) and the detector’s process
wetted parts (membrane). The detector’s membrane should be free from deposits which may hinder its correct
operation.
These inspections are to be performed by Fike Service Engineers or personnel trained and certified by Fike to do so. To
perform an inspection, it is important to first obtain all pertinent data that relates to the system being inspected.
The required information includes:
Fike System Drawings
Copy of manuals, specifications or documents referenced on the Fike System Engineered Drawings
Inspection equipment
Operating specifications on each component being inspected
When cleaning the detector, please note the following:
Do not use a cleaning agent that is aggressive to the housing surface or the seal.
Avoid any mechanical damage to the membrane or the extension. Do not use sharp tools such as
screwdrivers in order to prevent permanent damage. Recommend are a brush and use of water based
cleansers.
