This document describes the FIMCO LG-60-3PT (Model: 5301160), a 60-gallon 3-Point Sprayer with a 7-Nozzle Boom Assembly, designed for agricultural chemical application.

Function Description:

The FIMCO LG-60-3PT is a tractor-mounted sprayer designed for applying agricultural chemicals. It utilizes a roller pump system, which is a positive displacement pump. This means that the entire solution being pumped must either go to the boom nozzles or handgun, or be recirculated to the tank via a pressure relief valve. The sprayer draws solution from a 60-gallon elliptical tank through a strainer/filter and forces it under pressure to the boom nozzles or a handgun. A 'directo-valve' provides manual on/off control for the solution flow to the boom. The pressure relief valve, a spring-loaded device, controls the amount of fluid bypassed (recirculated) to the tank, allowing the operator to adjust pressure by tightening (increase) or loosening (decrease) its gray adjusting cap. The 7-nozzle boom assembly provides a wide spray swath, and the sprayer is intended for mounting directly to a tractor's PTO.

Usage Features:

Tractor Mounting: Designed for attachment to a tractor's 3-point hitch, with the pump mounting directly to the PTO. A torque chain with an 'S'-hook and hardware is provided to secure the pump during operation, preventing it from spinning on the PTO shaft.
Pre-Use Testing: Emphasizes testing with plain water before chemical application to check for leaks and ensure proper spray pattern.
Priming: Instructions for priming the pump, ensuring water or solution reaches the pump before starting to prevent damage.
Pressure Adjustment: Pressure is controlled by a pressure relief valve, which can be adjusted by tightening or loosening its gray cap.
On/Off Control: A 'directo-valve' allows manual control of solution flow to the boom.
Nozzle Performance: The AIXR11002VP nozzles offer a 110° wide, tapered flat spray angle with air induction technology for improved drift management. They are made of 2-piece UHMWPE polymer for excellent chemical resistance and wear life, and their compact size helps prevent tip damage.
Calibration: Detailed instructions for determining chemical mixture, spray rate (gallons per acre or per 1000 sq. ft.), pressure (PSI), and travel speed (MPH) using provided speed and spray tip rate charts.
Handgun Operation: The handgun is activated by squeezing its handle lever, and its adjustable nozzle tip allows changing the spray pattern from a straight stream to a fine mist cone.
Mixing Chemicals: Recommends adding water to the tank first, then running the sprayer (without spraying through the boom) while adding chemicals to aid in mixing via the bypass return. An optional agitator kit may be necessary for chemicals requiring constant suspension.

Maintenance Features:

Strainer Cleaning: Periodically check and clean the screen on the intake line.
Post-Spraying Flush: After each use, the sprayer must be flushed with clean water. This involves filling the tank halfway, running the pump to circulate water through the entire plumbing system and nozzles, draining, then refilling halfway with clean water and a tank cleaner (or dish soap), circulating for 15 minutes, and spraying out through the boom and handgun. This process should be repeated with clean water.
Nozzle Cleaning: If nozzles need cleaning, remove them and soak them in warm soapy water. Use a soft bristled brush or toothpick; never use metal objects, as even slight damage can alter flow rate and spray distribution. Rinse and dry tips before storing.
Chemical Residue Warning: Emphasizes that chemicals should not be allowed to sit in the pump untreated for extended periods, as this can damage pump valves. Always flush the pump as instructed.
Winter Storage:
- Drain all water from the sprayer, paying special attention to the pump, handgun, and valves, which are susceptible to damage from chemicals and freezing.
- Winterize by pumping a solution of automotive antifreeze (containing a rust inhibitor) through the entire plumbing system, allowing it to remain in the system during winter months.
- Before the next spray season, rinse the entire plumbing system to clear the antifreeze solution.
