ON
THE
ROAD
As the operator
of
this motor home, you bear the sole
responsibility for proper, safe loading. This section will
guide you through the steps necessary
to
properly and safely
load your vehicle.
Your motor home chassis is designed
to
carry a specific max-
imum weight. This weight includes everything: the weight
of
the empty motor home itself, all occupants and their belong-
ings, fuel, fresh water, waste water and anything else that
may be in or attached to the motor home.
Before discussing loading and weighing, we need to explain
some common weight terms. We'll use abbreviations in our
discussion. These terms are:
GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating)*
means the maximum permissible weight
of
this motor
home. The GVWR is equal to or greater than the sum
of
the Unloaded Vehicle Weight plus the Net Carrying
Capacity.
GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating)*
means the maximum weight a specific axle is designed to
carry. Motor homes equipped with tag axles are limited
to the maximum weight listed for the combination
of
the
intermediate and rear axles. This weight is less than the
total GA
WR
of
the individual axles.
GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating)*
means the value specified by the motor home manufac-
turer
as
the maximum allowable loaded weight
of
this
motor home with its towed trailer or towed vehicle.
*These ratings are shown on the Carrying Capacity tag.
