5 Operation
1. Use the navigation buttons to select the Silent mode icon

5.6.3.1 Selecting the mode, page 17.
5.6 Voltage and current measurements
5.6.1 Basic voltage measurements
NOTE
If the measured voltage is greater than 30 V DC or AC RMS, the
indicator
is displayed.
1. Set the function switch to the
position.
2. To manually select AC, DC, or AC+DC measurement, press the
button
repeatedly. Refer to section 5.2 Auto/Manual select mode, page 14.
3. To manually select the measurement range (scale), press the
button
repeatedly. Refer to section 5.3 Auto/Manual range mode, page 15.
4. Insert the black probe lead into the negative COM terminal and the red probe
lead into the positive V terminal.
5. Connect the probe leads in parallel to the part under test.
6. Read the voltage value on the display.
5.6.2 Basic current measurements
WARNING
Do not measure the current on a circuit when the voltage increases to more
than 1000 V. This can cause damage to the instrument and can cause injury
to persons.
When measuring current using the clamp jaws, only one conductor should be en-
closed by the jaws—refer to Figure 5.1.
