What to do if my Flotec FP4800 motor will not run?
    • A
      Angela YangJul 31, 2025
If your Flotec Water Pump motor won't run, first ensure the disconnect switch is on. Check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker and replace or reset it. Inspect the wires at the motor for looseness, disconnections, or incorrect wiring; disconnect power before checking and tightening all wiring. If the starting switch is defective, disconnect the power and replace it, referring to the wiring instructions. Lastly, if the pressure switch contacts are dirty, disconnect the power and file the contacts with an emery board or nail file.

Why is my Flotec FP4800 running but not pumping water?
    • K
      Kimberly LewisAug 5, 2025
If your Flotec Water Pump motor runs but doesn't deliver water, several issues could be the cause. If it's a new installation, improper priming, air leaks, or a leaking foot valve/check valve might be the problem; re-prime according to the instructions. If the pump has lost prime in an existing installation, check all connections on the suction line and shaft seal for air leaks. Also, inspect and clean the foot valve or strainer, ejector, or impeller if they are plugged. A stuck check valve or foot valve will need replacement. Frozen pipes will prevent water delivery and need to be thawed. Finally, if using a shallow well setup, the water level might be too low; a deep well jet package may be needed if the water level is over 25 ft.

How to increase water pressure on my Flotec FP4800 Water Pump?
    • M
      michael45Aug 10, 2025
If your Flotec Water Pump isn't delivering water to its full capacity, it could be due to several reasons. If the water level in the well is lower than estimated, a deep well jet will be needed if your well is more than 25’ (7.6M) depth to water. Corroded or limed steel piping can cause excess friction; replace it with plastic pipe where possible, otherwise with new steel pipe. Insufficiently sized piping can also restrict water flow; use larger piping. Lastly, a packed well point can reduce capacity; backflush the well point or sink a new one.

Why does my Flotec FP4800 Water Pump motor overheat and shut off?
    • E
      Erin MannAug 15, 2025
If your Flotec Water Pump motor runs hot and the overload kicks off, the motor might be wired incorrectly; refer to the wiring instructions. Low voltage could also be the cause; check with the power company. Additionally, the pump might be cycling too frequently; refer to the section on too frequent cycling.

Why is there air coming from my Flotec Water Pump?
    • A
      amy28Aug 21, 2025
If you're experiencing air spurts from your faucets with your Flotec Water Pump, it could be due to several reasons. The pump might be picking up prime; once primed, it should pump solid water without air. A leak in the suction side of the pump can also introduce air; check joints for leaks with soapy water. In some cases, the well itself might be gaseous; consult the factory about installing a sleeve in the well. Intermittent over-pumping of the well, where water is drawn down below the foot valve, can also cause air spurts; lower the foot valve if possible, otherwise restrict pump discharge.

Why does my Flotec FP4800 Water Pump keep cycling on and off?
    • C
      clinestevenOct 26, 2025
If your Flotec Water Pump cycles too frequently, several factors could be responsible. Start by checking if any faucets have been left open and close them. Inspect all pipe connections for leaks, as well as the foot valve. The pressure switch might be out of adjustment, requiring adjustment or replacement after disconnecting power. A waterlogged standard pressure tank lacking an air cushion can also cause this issue; drain the tank to the air volume control port. Also, ensure the air charge in your pre-charged tank isn't too low. Use a tire pressure gauge to check the air pressure at the valve stem; it should be 2 PSI less than the cut-in setting of the switch (30-50 PSI). Add air if needed and check for leaks with a soapy solution, replacing the core if necessary. Lastly, a clogged ventur...
