Assemble pistons and connecting rods onto the crankshaft, ensuring free rotation.
Attach connecting rods to the crankshaft, fitting bearing caps and securing with screws.
Fit the crankshaft drive gear onto the end of the crankshaft.
Place the piston/crankshaft assembly onto the upper crankcase.
Attach cylinder barrels to crankcase, sliding pistons into barrels and ensuring correct orientation.
Slide the crankcase rear into the upper crankcase, aligning the rib with the slot.
Fit the lower crankcase to the upper crankcase and secure with seven screws.
Fit valve guide plates, noting narrow and wide plates, to the lower cylinder heads.
Insert valves, stems, and springs into cylinder heads, pushing valves onto stems gently.
Assemble the oil cooler parts and clamp to the crankcase T-shaped moulding.
Fit gasket, oil return pipes, and the right cylinder head to the crankcase.
Attach the rear part of the right hand camshaft tunnel to the crankcase.
Assemble cams onto the right camshaft in order, noting flat surfaces and rib orientation.
Place the right camshaft assembly into the cylinder head, ensuring cams are separated.
Fit rocker shaft assemblies and cylinder head cover, ensuring rockers are between bearings.
Repeat steps 11-14 for the left hand side of the engine, noting cam rib orientation.
Lock the crankshaft into position with a timing alignment pin for valve and ignition timing.
Slide crankshaft gears onto the crankshaft and metal shaft, ensuring correct alignment with ribs.
Fit the valve timing tool to the left hand side of the engine, connecting to sprockets.
Place the left cam timing belt over sprockets and install the idler pulley.
Fit the left cam belt tunnel cover and secure with three screws.
Install distributor drive bevel gears, ensuring the flat section faces downwards for timing.
Fit crankshaft sprocket B to the metal pin, followed by the valve timing tool.
Install the second cam belt and the idler pulley on the right side.
Place the right hand cam belt cover in position and secure with three screws.
Fit the distributor bush and then the distributor into the crankcase, aligning flat surfaces.
Attach the engine cover plate to the front of the engine and secure with three screws.
Fit the pulley to the end of the crankshaft and secure with a screw.
Fit the drive gear to the motor shaft and insert the motor/gearbox assembly into the crankcase.
Attach the upper and lower cylinder head covers to the engine, securing each with six screws.
Assemble and fit the right and left exhaust manifolds to the underside of the cylinder heads.
Assemble and fit the right and left exhaust pipes to the exhaust manifolds.
Assemble the exhaust muffler halves and secure it to the exhaust pipes and crankcase.
Insert 3 x AA batteries into the base compartment, ensuring correct polarity.
Remove the foil label from the backing paper and place it in position on the base.
Attach the base to the bottom of the crankcase and secure with four screws.
Assemble cooling fan components: rear cover, fan, shaft, and pulley.
Insert cooling fan assembly into crankcase slot and fit fan drive belt over pulleys.
Insert spark plugs into cylinder heads and connect wires to distributor cap and cylinders.
