Determining the DSL Line Type
Overview
In Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and most other countries, the only
lines still available are IP-based. Voice and internet are transmitted in
the same network using the internet protocol (IP). The old telephone
network is no longer used.
In just a few countries there are still DSL lines that are combined with
a landline in the old telephone network. To connect the FRITZ!Box you
must know whether you have an IP-based connection or a DSL connec-
tion with an old landline.
Determining Your Line Type
If you do not know whether you have an IP-based DSL line or a DSL
connection with an old landline, ask your DSL provider or research
your telephony package in the internet.
