Functional overview
Slots for expansion cards
The server can be flexibly expanded via three external slots (1x PCIe x16 and
2x PCIe x8).
There is a fourth slot (PCIe Gen3 x8) that is internal and designed for an
optional SAS/SATA RAID controller.
Hard disk drives
The server can be equipped with a maximum of four (variant with DVD slot) or
eight 2.5-inch HDD modules.
Each HDD module can accommodate an SAS/SATA hard disk drive or an SATA
SSD drive with a maximum height of 1 inch. The module is connected to the
SAS/SATA backplane wirelessly. This allows HDD modules to be plugged in or
pulled out easily.
Four SAS/SATA hard disk drives can be controlled by the onboard SAS/SATA
controller. To control further SAS/SATA hard disk drives, an additional RAID
controller must be installed.
Mixed configurations of SAS HDDs, SATA HDDs and SSDs within the same
logical drive (RAID array) are not supported.
If the server has the corresponding RAID configuration, HDD modules can also
be replaced during operation.
Onboard SAS/SATA controller
A SAS/SATA controller is integrated on the system board; up to four SAS or
SATA hard disk drives can be connected to the controller. The LSI Embedded
MegaRAID software (Software RAID) supports RAID levels 0, 1 and 10. The
SAS functionallity needs to be enabled separately by using a ROM1 SCU Key.
