RX200 S7 Operating Manual 19
Functional overview
Accessible drives / components
The variant with a maximum of four 2.5-inch HDD modules provides a bay for
an optical drive.
The optical drive installed here cannot be replaced during operation.
USB connectors
The two USB 2.0 connectors on the front of the server support activities carried
out by the service technician. The maximum length of the external cable are
three meters.
Another three USB 2.0 connectors are available on the rear of the device.
Power supply
In its basic configuration the server uses a hot-plug power supply unit (450 W
or 800 W), that adjusts automatically to any mains voltage in the range of 100 -
240 V. As an option, the power supply can be expanded with an extra power
supply unit to create a redundant power supply. If a power supply unit fails, the
redundant configuration assures continued operation. The defective power
supply unit can be replaced during operation. A mix of 450 W and 800 W PSUs
is not allowed. In case of mixed configuration CSS LED will be flashing and an
SEL entry will be generated (for further details see the "PRIMERGY RX200 S7
Server Upgrade and Maintenance Manual").
Cooling
The Cool-safe™ cooling concept with improved air flow cooling technology
(honeycomb design) ensures the highest possible performance of the
processors at work; at the same time, the system is extremely reliable thanks to
the reduced heat dissipation.
Base units are supplied with four hot-plug fan modules (single CPU
configuration and depending on CPU type) or six hot-plug fan modules (two
CPUs configuration and depending on CPU type). Each fan module consists of
two fans, implemented in one housing.
Base units with four fan modules operate in a 1 of 4 redundancy, base units with
six fan modules operate in a 1 of 6 redundancy. In other words, if one of the four
or six fan modules fails, the system will operate without any problem.
For further details see the "PRIMERGY RX200 S7 Server Upgrade and
Maintenance Manual".
