7.7 Preparing vehicle for high temperatures or slow riding

Make sure that no radiator covers ( p. 85) are installed.

– Check the radiator cap.
Value on the radiator cap 1.8 bar (26 psi)
» If the indicated value does not correspond to the setpoint value:
Warning
Danger of scalding During motorcycle operation,
the coolant gets very hot and is under pressure.
– Do not open the radiator, the radiator hoses or
other cooling system components if the engine
or the cooling system are at operating temper-
ature.
– Allow the cooling system and the engine to
cool down before you open the radiator, the
radiator hoses or other components of the
cooling system.
– In the event of scalding, rinse the area affected
immediately with lukewarm water.
– Change the radiator cap.

Adjust the secondary drive to the road conditions.
Info
The engine oil heats up quickly when the clutch is operated
frequently due to an excessively high secondary ratio.
– Clean the radiator fins.
– Straighten the bent radiator fins carefully.
