How to fix GE Other dehumidifier that does not start?

  If your GE Other dehumidifier isn't starting, first, ensure it's fully plugged into the outlet. Then, check your house's fuse or circuit breaker box; replace the fuse or reset the breaker if needed. Also, the dehumidifier might have reached its preset level, or the bucket could be full. Try changing to a lower setting or emptying the bucket. Finally, make sure the bucket is correctly placed, as the dehumidifier won't work unless it's securely seated. There may also be a protective time delay of up to 3 minutes to prevent tripping of the compressor overload. For this reason, the unit may not start normal heating or cooling for 3 minutes after it turned back on.

  If your GE dehumidifier runs excessively, it might be due to the area being too large for the unit's capacity. Also, open doors and windows can cause the dehumidifier to work harder. Ensure all doors and windows are closed to the outside.

  If your GE dehumidifier isn't drying the air sufficiently, several factors could be at play. When first installed, allow at least 24 hours to achieve the desired dryness. Ensure that curtains, blinds, or furniture aren't blocking the front or back of the unit. For drier air, lower the humidity control setting. Check that all doors, windows, and other openings are securely closed. Position the dehumidifier away from the clothes dryer, and ensure the dryer is vented outside. Note that lower room temperatures reduce the moisture removal rate; these models are designed to operate above 65°F.
