Chapter 2: Removing the Existing

Remov ing the Existi ng Relay
Uninstall the 489 relay following these steps.
NOTE
Note
Always be sure to follow your company's safety policies and procedures during the retrofit
process.
Note
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment for hand and eye protection.
Note
Turn off control power before drawing out or re-inserting the relay to prevent
maloperation.
1. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the back of the 489 relay, and remove the relay
from its case.
2. From the back of the relay case, remove the terminal block screws. Do not remove
any wires.
NOTE
Note
A Multilin 750 relay is shown in some pictures. The Multilin 489 upper terminal blocks
are somewhat different, however the same removal steps apply.
