6.5 Refrigerant charge
CAUTION Wear personal protective clothing such as goggles and protective
gloves!
ATTENTION Avoidoverllingthesystemwithrefrigerant!
To avoid shifts in concentration, zeotropic refrigerant blends (e.g.
R407C)mustalwaysonlybelledintotherefrigeratingplantin
liquidform.
Donotpourliquidcoolantthroughthesuctionlinevalveon
the compressor.
It is not permissible to mix additives with the oil and refrigerant.
6.7 Avoiding slugging
To prevent slugging:
Thecompleterefrigerationsystemmustbeproperlydesigned.
Allcomponentsmustbecompatiblyratedwitheachotherwithregardtooutput
(particularlytheevaporatorandexpansionvalves).
Suctiongassuperheatatthecompressorinputshould be min. 7 - 10 K.(checkthesetting
oftheexpansionvalve).
Thesystemmustreachastateofequilibrium.
Particularlyincriticalsystems(e.g.severalevaporatorpoints),measuresarerecommendedsuch
asreplacementofliquidtraps,solenoidvalveintheliquidline,etc.
There should be no movement of coolant whatsoever while the compressor is at a standstill.
ATTENTION Slugging can damage the compressor and cause refrigerant to
leak.
6.6 Start-up
Checkthatthesafetyandprotectiondevices(pressureswitch,motorprotection,electrical
contactprotectionmeasures,etc.)areallfunctioningproperly.
Switchonthecompressorandallowtorunforaminimumof10min.
Check the oil level by:Theoilmustbevisibleinthesightglass.
WARNING Ensure that both shut-off valves are open before starting the
compressor!
ATTENTION Iflargerquantitiesofoilhavetobetoppedup,thereisariskof
oil hammer effects.
If this is the case check the oil return!
