How to fix a GILES GBF-2-GVH that will not turn on?
    • R
      Ryan MitchellAug 15, 2025
If your GILES Fryer won't turn on and the power light is off, here's what to check: * Ensure the unit is properly connected to the power supply. * Inspect fuses, circuit breakers, and fuse holders for any issues. * The power switch might be faulty and need replacement. * Confirm that the fryer is connected to the correct electrical power supply as per its specifications.

Why is my GILES GBF-2-GVH heating slowly?
    • R
      Robert WalkerAug 18, 2025
If your GILES Fryer is heating slowly and the heat light stays on (not cycling off/on), the issue might be due to improper cooking procedures (refer to the Operations Manual for guidance). Other potential causes include a failing element or contactor, loose wiring, or low supply power voltage. You should replace the faulty element or contactor, trace and repair any loose wiring, and confirm that the supply power voltage is correct for the unit's specifications.

      Roy EwingAug 21, 2025

Why is the oil temperature erratic in my GILES GBF-2-GVH?
    • T
      Travis EspinozaAug 26, 2025
If your GILES Fryer is showing erratic oil temperatures, several factors could be responsible. The variable temperature sensing probe, contactor, or cooking controller might be faulty and need replacement. Loose wiring should be traced and repaired. If the oil has been used for too long and has broken down, replace it. Also, ensure the cooking temperature isn't set too high and that the heating elements are clean. A faulty heating element may need replacement. Confirm the unit is connected to the correct power supply voltage and maintain the oil level between the FULL and MAX markings.

What causes the high limit light to turn on in my GILES Fryer?
    • Y
      yromeroAug 28, 2025
If your GILES Fryer won't heat, but the power light is on, the heat switch is in the HEAT position, and the high limit light is on, try turning the power switch off for about 5 seconds and then back on. Other potential causes include a sticking contactor (replace if faulty), a faulty high-limit control board (replace), a faulty high-limit sensing probe or incorrect probe positioning (replace or correct), voltage spikes or line noise (install a line filter or remove the noise source), or a false high-limit trigger when heating cold shortening (stir continuously while heating).

Why is my GILES GBF-2-GVH Fryer heating slowly and short cycling?
    • L
      Larry OrtizAug 30, 2025
If your GILES Fryer is heating slowly with short cycling (heat light cycling OFF/ON continuously), it could be due to low supply power voltage (confirm correct voltage for unit specification), a faulty variable temperature sensing probe (replace the probe), or a faulty cooking controller (replace the controller).

Why won't my GILES GBF-2-GVH Fryer hood run and the fryers won't heat?
    • A
      Audrey RamirezSep 3, 2025
If the hood will not run and the fryers will not heat, ensure the Filter Access Door is closed and latched. Check that the left Fryer Power Switch is in the ON position to power the hood. If not, power up the left fryer unit. Also, check for a faulty power switch (replace if needed), proper connection to the power supply (have an electrician confirm), blown fuses in the appliance (check fuses in Hood and Fryers), tripped circuit breakers (check breakers), and proper installation of the Baffle Filter (install correctly and check alignment).
  • S
    Susan MillerSep 5, 2025
Why did the heat turn off on both of my GILES Fryers?
    • A
      Andrew BeckSep 5, 2025
If both GILES Fryer's heat turns off, the hood power light is on, the [CHARCOAL OR BAFFLE FILTER MISSING] light is on, and the appliance power light is off, it may be because the Baffle Filter or Charcoal Filter is missing or not properly installed. Install the Baffle Filter or Charcoal Filter, or check their alignment. Another possibility is a faulty filter proofing switch, which would need to be replaced.

What does it mean when the 'Check/Wash' LEDs are on for my GILES GBF-2-GVH Fryer?
    • H
      Heather DoyleSep 9, 2025
If, at start-up, the CHECK/WASH status LEDs are on and a beeping alarm tone begins after 2 minutes, and the fryers will not heat with the appliance powered light off, it could be due to an excessively dirty E.A.C. Collector Cell (clean the cell as described in Section 5.02.4.2 of the manual), a damaged or shorted E.A.C. Cell (replace or repair the cell), a faulty E.A.C. high voltage power supply (replace the power supply), a faulty or dirty E.A.C. contact plate inside the hood (clean or replace the contact plate), or an improperly installed E.A.C. Cell (install a clean E.A.C. Cell).

Why is the light under the hood of my GILES GBF-2-GVH Fryer not working?
    • D
      Debra BoothSep 12, 2025
If the under-hood lighting does not turn on when the hood is powered up, the fluorescent bulb may be burned out (replace the bulb as described in Section 5.02.4.5 of the manual). Alternatively, the ballast could be faulty (replace the faulty ballast), or the fuse could be blown (check and replace the fuse).
