4.4. HEALTH STATUS MESSAGING
The Health Status Message reports the current settings and condition of the device. The message generation interval is
configurable from 1-30 days, with a default interval of 30 days. One message per month is generated at no charge, shorter
intervals are charged according to the device plan.
NOTE: One message per month minimum, cannot be set to zero.
The device health check message length is 2 packets (18 bytes).

Number of Bursts per
Message
Bits (3:0) = Number of Bursts/Transmissions. Range is 1 to 5 Transmissions. Number of
bursts per message the device will attempt.
1 Battery Condition Bit 4: 0 = Battery OK; 1 = Battery LOW. Set to 1 if not full, not normal, or not charging.
1 GPS Subsystem Fault Bit 5: 0 = GPS system OK; 1 = Fault. Set to 1 if a GPS hardware error is detected.

Bit 6: 0 = Transmitter OK; 1 = Fault. Set to 1 if an ASIC hardware error is detected.
1 Line Powered Bit 7: Reserved. Not used in the ST100.
2-4 24 FW Version Byte 2: Major FW , Byte 3: Minor FW, Byte 4: Patch FW Version.
5 8 Number of GPS Fails
Unsigned binary count of failed GPS attempts since last Diagnostics Message. It shall be
cleared after Diagnostics Message is sent. MSB first.

Number of Transmis-
sions
Number of transmissions since last Diagnostics Message. It shall be cleared after Diagnos-
tics Message is sent. MSB first. Can also be used to determine a percentage of transmis-
sions that are succeeding based on how many have been received to the BO.
8 8 Mean GPS Fix Time
Mean time to get a GPS Fix since last health check message was sent. Cleared each time
the health check is sent.
