What to do if auger in SIA turns in the wrong direction on H&S Farm Equipment?
    • M
      meyersannaSep 23, 2025
If the auger in your H&S Farm Equipment's SIA turns in the wrong direction, the motor connections are likely crossed. Switch the hose connections to change the direction of motor rotation.

What to do if the tank unloads slow on my H&S GM 170 Farm Equipment?
    • S
      Stephen WilliamsAug 23, 2025
If your H&S Farm Equipment's tank unloads too slowly, the issue might be due to insufficient oil flow to the motors. Try increasing the tractor RPM speed. A plugged oil filter can also cause this problem, so replace the filter. Other potential causes include a defective hydraulic pump (replace it), a variable speed control valve that isn't fully open (open it more), a defective hydraulic motor (repair or replace it), oil that is too thin (replace it with heavier oil), or not enough oil flow to the hydraulic pump (change the oil filter, replace the oil, and fill to the proper level). Also, check for and tighten any loose connections to the motor.

How to troubleshoot decreased capacity in H&S GM 170?
    • K
      Kayla MiddletonAug 26, 2025
Low capacity in your H&S Farm Equipment can occur for several reasons. First, ensure the mill is operating at the recommended RPM speed by adjusting the tractor throttle. If the mill loses speed as material enters it, adjust the Mill/Blower sheave alignment and/or drive belt tension. Also, a worn screen can reduce capacity, so rotate or replace the screen. Lastly, check for and unplug a plugged blower inlet.

Why does the pump squeal during start up on my H&S Farm Equipment?
    • L
      Lawrence RobinsonAug 27, 2025
If your H&S Farm Equipment's pump squeals during start up, it could be due to oil that is too heavy or cold; allow the oil to warm up or switch to a recommended lighter oil. Another possible cause is a low oil level in the reservoir; add oil to bring it between the minimum and maximum indicator levels.

How to reduce excessive dust from H&S GM 170?
    • J
      john11Aug 27, 2025
If you're experiencing excessive dust with your H&S Farm Equipment, check and unplug the blower inlet. Also, make sure the collector is uncovered while operating.

    Stacy CarrollSep 18, 2025
Why won't the Swinging Intake Auger attachment operate on my H&S GM 170 Farm Equipment?
    • K
      Kristina RoweSep 18, 2025
If the Swinging Intake Auger (SIA) attachment on your H&S Farm Equipment will not operate, first check if the SIA variable speed control is in the off position; check the mechanical linkage controls and open the valve. If that's not the issue, the SIA variable speed control valve relief pressure may be set too low; check the pressure to the valve, and if it's low, adjust it to the factory setting or replace it if it will not adjust.

Why will the discharge auger variable speed control valve not engage or disengage on H&S GM 170 Farm Equipment?
    • A
      alanconradSep 15, 2025
If the discharge auger variable speed control valve on your H&S Farm Equipment will not engage or disengage, the variable speed control valve is likely defective and needs to be replaced.
  • V

Why is it difficult to engage or disengage variable speed control valve on H&S Farm Equipment?
    • R
      Rachel MercerSep 17, 2025
If you find it difficult to engage or disengage the variable speed control valve on your H&S Farm Equipment, the valve itself may be defective and require replacement.

What to do if transfer auger doesn’t turn on H&S GM 170 Farm Equipment?
    • A
      Anthony PowellSep 7, 2025
If the transfer auger on your H&S Farm Equipment doesn't turn, check for a sheared transfer auger shear bolt and replace it, correcting the cause of the failure. Also, inspect the front drive chain for breaks or disconnections; repair or replace the chain as needed.

What to do if mixing auger doesn’t turn on H&S GM 170 Farm Equipment?
    • M
      Megan BrownSep 4, 2025
If your H&S Farm Equipment's mixing auger doesn’t turn, it could be due to a sheared transmission shear bolt; replace the bolt and correct the cause of the bolt failure. Other potential causes include a disconnected front or rear drive chain (repair or replace the chain), a sheared sprocket key or transmission gear key (replace the key), or a broken shaft (replace the shaft).
