Programming the Remote
Erasing All the Learned Commands For
a Single Device
To erase all the commands for a single
device, follow these steps:
1. Press the Device Control Selector
c for the desired device (e.g., CD,
TV, VCR etc.) and the Set button j
at the same time until the LED under
the Device Control Selector turns
red and the Program/Command
Indicator a turns and remains
orange.
2. Press and hold the Direct button
s. The Program/Command
Indicator a will flash red five
times, and the red LED under the
Device Control Selector c
will turn off.
3. Release the Direct button s and the
Program/Command Indicator a
will flash green twice, and then turn to
a steady orange color. The red LED
under the Device Control Selector
c will turn back on.
4. At this point, all the learned codes for
the device have been erased. To com-
plete the process, press and hold the
Device Control Selector c and
the Set button j at the same time
until the Program/Command
Indicator a flashes orange twice
and then goes out, and the red LED
under the Device Control Selector
turns off.
Erasing All Learned Commands
To erase ALL commands that have been
learned to all buttons in the remote, fol-
low the instruction shown below. Note that
this will erase all commands for the CD,
TAPE, SAT, TV, VCR and CBL devices, but it
will not erase the commands for the
AVR35RDS, itself.
To erase all learned commands, press
and hold the TV Device Control
Selector c and the Direct button s
at the same time until the Program/
Command Indicator a flashes red
ten times, then green once and orange
once. When the Program/Command
Indicator a stops flashing and turns
off, release the buttons. All learned com-
mands have been erased from the
AVR35RDS remote control.
Volume Punch-Through
The AVR35RDS’s remote may be pro-
grammed to operate the Volume
Control and Mute button `
from either the TV or the AVR to operate
in conjunction with any of the eight
devices controlled by the remote. For
example, since the AVR35RDS will likely
be used as the sound system for TV view-
ing, you may wish to have the AVR’s vol-
ume activated when the remote is set to
run the TV. Either the AVR or TV volume
control may be associated with any of the
remote’s devices.

To program the remote for Volume
Punch-Through, follow these steps:
1. Press the Device Control Selector
c for the device you wish to have
associated with the volume control
(e.g., TV, SAT, etc.) and the Mute
button ` at the same time until the
red light illuminates under the
Device Control Selector.
2. Press the Volume Up button .
3. Press either the AVR b or the
TV Device Control Selector
c, depending on which system’s
volume control you wish to have
attached for the punch-through
mode. Note that the red light under
the Device Control Selector
will blink twice and then go out to
confirm the data entry.
Example: To have the AVR’s vol-
ume control be activated even
though the remote is set to control
the TV, first press the TV Device
Control Selector c, and the
Mute button ` at the same time.
Next, press the Volume Up button
, followed by the AVR Device
Control Selector b.
NOTE: Should you wish to return the
remote to the original configuration after
entering a Volume Punch-Through, you
will need to repeat the steps shown above.
However, press the same Device Control
Selector in steps one and three.
