Clearances to combustibles
Ifinstallingthefurnaceinaroomseparatedfromtheremainingliving
spaces,theminimumsizeoftheroommustbenosmallerthan8’
x8’.SeeFig.21.Thereasonforthisisheatbuild-upandrequired
spaceforserviceandnormaloperation.Thisistheminimumsize
oftheroomevenifitisbuiltofnon-combustiblematerial.
HighandlowairventsMUSTbeinstalledbetweentheroomand
theremaininglivingspace.Eachventshouldbeatleast72square
inchesinarea.(Theventsizewillneedtobeincreasedifthereis
noreturnairductingsystem.)
Thestripedareasaretheminimumclearancestocombustibles
whichis36”fromstovebody,notthehopperorblower.
Theshadedareaindicatestherequiredoorprotectionarea.The
furnacerequires48”x52”ofoorprotectioncenteredaroundthe
skidplatefootprint.Flooringshouldbeaminimumof26gauge
sheetmetalcoveringtheinstallationclearanceareaand18”infront
of,and8”toeithersideoftheashpandoor.
The 18” clearance from the hopper end is a manufacturer’s
recommendation for adding pellets and/or servicing the feeder
mechanism.
Theminimumclearancetothetopoftheplenumis1”.
Note the minimum height to the bottom of the supply duct if it
crossesthehopper.
Theminimumductcongurationtoalivingspaceabovethefurnace
isas shownbelow.Anoffsetof atleast 24”MUSTbe installed
betweentheplenumandtheoorregister.TheregistersizeMUST
haveanareaofatleast240squareinches.
The minimum ceiling height is 6’6”. This is set by the
clearance to combustibles (28”) from the top of the of
the furnace. See Fig. 22.
NOTE: Install vent at clearances specied by the vent
manufacturer.

air MUST be taken into consideration
