Creosote - Formation and Need for Removal -Whenwoodisburnedslowly,itproducestarandotherorganicvapors,
whichcombinewithexpelledmoisturetoformcreosote.Thecreosotevaporscondenseintherelativelycoolchimneyue
ofaslow-burningre.Asaresult,creosoteresidueaccumulatesontheuelining.Whenignited,thiscreosotemakesan
extremelyhotre.Thepelletventpipeshouldbeinspectedatleasttwicemonthlyduringtheheatingseasontodetermine
ifacreosotebuilduphasoccurred.Ifcreosotehasaccumulateditshouldberemovedtoreducetheriskofachimneyre.
Guidanceonminimizingcreosoteformationandtheneedforperiodiccreosoteremoval:Thechimneyshouldbeinspected
duringtheheatingseasontodetermineifacreosotebuild-uphasoccurred.Ifasignicantlayerofcreosotehasaccumulated
(3mmormore)itshouldberemovedtoreducetheriskofachimneyre.
This furnace may be used and installed into an existing
masonryorClassAmetalchimney.
Certain Canadian and Local Codes may require that the
chimney be fully relined. See Fig. 24.
This Furnace May Notbeventedintoachimneyueserving
anotherappliance.
The chimney should be cleaned and or inspected before
installation.
