INSTALLATION

UL LISTING

Merchandisers meet ANSI/UL 471 safety standards. Proper installation is key.

FEDERAL / STATE REGULATION

Merchandisers meet federal/state regulations. Check serial plate for environment.

LOCATION

Designed for air-conditioned stores with specific temp/humidity. Avoid heat sources.

SHIPPING DAMAGE

Inspect for damage before/during unloading. Claims are against the carrier.

EXTERIOR LOADING

Do not walk on or overload merchandisers. Avoid damage and injury.

MERCHANDISERS SHIPPED WITH END INSTALLED

Replace long shipping bolts with shorter ones to avoid coil damage.

SHIPPING BRACES

Remove packaging, check for damage. Remove shipping blocks from heat exchanger.

MOVING MERCHANDISER THROUGH NARROW STORE ENTRANCES

Procedure to disassemble parts for narrow access, reducing height and depth.

LEVELING

Install level for proper refrigeration and defrost water drainage. Use carpenter's level.

FINAL LOCATION

Reassemble wireway and door handles after reaching final position.

DOOR ADJUSTMENT

Adjust and level doors after leveling and joining merchandisers.

JOINING

Sectional construction allows joining units. Kits are shipped with units.

REFRIGERATION / ELECTRICAL

REFRIGERANT

Correct type is on serial plate. Handle with care due to pressure and hazards.

REFRIGERANT PIPING

Connections are at the right-hand end. Shroud must be placed correctly before making connections.

MULTIPLEXING

Running refrigerant lines between units on the same system. Avoid cross-system lines.

LINE SIZING

Refrigerant lines should be sized per legend or ASHRAE guidelines.

OIL TRAPS

P-traps must be installed at the base of all suction line vertical risers.

INSULATION

Insulate suction and liquid lines separately for gas defrost; together for other defrosts.

BRANCH LINE PIPING

Details on suction and liquid line sizing and take-offs for different defrost types.

EXPANSION VALVE ADJUSTMENT

Adjust valves to fully feed the evaporator, measuring superheat. Make small adjustments.

REFRIGERATION THERMOSTAT

Location of thermostat body and sensing bulb.

DEFROST TERMINATION THERMOSTAT

Location of thermostat or sensor on low-temp units.

CONTROL SETTINGS MEDIUM TEMPERATURE

Settings for single/parallel compressor systems, temp differential, and defrost control.

CONTROL SETTINGS LOW TEMPERATURE

Settings for single/parallel compressor systems, temp differential, and defrost control.

ELECTRICAL

FIELD WIRING

Sizing for component amperes. Wiring for thermostats and controls. Check serial plate.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

All wiring must comply with NEC/local codes. Connections to terminal blocks in wireway.

IDENTIFICATION OF WIRING

Leads identified by colored plastic bands matching color code sticker.

WIRING COLOR CODE

List of wire colors and their functions (thermostat, heaters, fans, lights).

DRIP PIPING AND SPLASHGUARDS

WASTE OUTLET AND WATER SEAL

Outlet location varies. Drip piping location between base and splashguard.

INSTALLING DRIP PIPING

Follow recommendations for proper installation. Avoid small pipes, ensure water seal.

DRIP PIPING LINEUP ARRANGEMENTS

Typical arrangements for installing drip pipes for lineups. Reference only.

INSTALLING SPLASHGUARDS

Re-install front panel, then install splashguards by snapping them into place.

SEALING SPLASHGUARD TO FLOOR

Seal plastic splashguards with silicone or use vinyl cove trim for stainless steel.

START UP / OPERATION

STARTUP AND OPERATION

Bring merchandisers to operating temps. Monitor ambient conditions for condensation.

STOCKING

Do not stock until controls adjusted & temps reached. Shelf height/load limits. Proper rotation. Keep doors closed.

LOAD LIMITS

Do not stock beyond indicated limits. Check for 26" shelf reinforcement label.

INSTALLING FDA/NSF REQUIRED THERMOMETER

Install thermometer per US FDA Food Code and NSF Standard 7. Note tape exposure.

MAINTENANCE

CARE AND CLEANING

Regular cleaning ensures long life and performance. Clean interiors weekly, remove debris.

CLEANING HONEYCOMB ASSEMBLIES

Clean honeycombs every six months to maintain performance. Use vacuum or soap and water.

CLEANING STAINLESS STEEL SURFACES

Use non-abrasive materials, polish with grain. Avoid salt cleaners.

CLEANING COILS

Never use sharp objects. Use soft brush or vacuum. Do not puncture coils.

CLEANING UNDER MERCHANDISERS

Remove splashguards, use vacuum with wand for accumulated dust and debris.

REMOVING SCRATCHES FROM BUMPER

Smooth surface area with steel wool, clean, and apply wax for glossy finish.
