  If your furnace water is hot, but your buildings aren't getting heat, here are a few things you can check: * Make sure all pumps in the system are running. * Check the filter cartridge for any flow blockages, if one is installed. * Bleed off any air that may be in the system at the exchanger. * Make sure there are no closed valves that are preventing water flow. * Check the temperature of the water as it exits the furnace, enters the building, and before and after each heat exchanger.

  If your furnace is overheating, you should check the following: * Ensure all doors are closing properly and that the door gasket is completely sealing. * Verify that the solenoid damper plate is opening and closing smoothly. * Inspect the venting and fan box for air leaks. * Confirm that the temperature settings are correct. * Check the chimney draft. * Check the water level. * Ensure the door and ash drawer are airtight. * Make sure all pumps in the system are running.

  If your furnace has shut down, you can try the following: * Check to ensure that the unit has power. * Check to ensure the Furnace On/Off switch is in the On position. * Check the water temperature (furnace has a high temperature cut out of 190 degrees F. and turns on again at 140 degrees).

  If smoke is leaking out of the furnace door: * Check to ensure the door is sealing properly. * If the seal is worn out it will have to be replaced. * The door may need to be adjusted.

What to do if there is a power failure with my Heatmaster Furnace?

  In the event of a power failure with your furnace: * Open all flow-check and zone valves in the system. * Remember that the heating systems cannot dispose of a great deal of heat without the circulator(s) running. Avoid over-firing! * When the power has returned, reset all flow-check and zone valves and resume normal operation of the system.

Why do I have to refill my Heatmaster C-150 Furnace with water so often?

  If you're having to fill the furnace with water more then once a week or more then a few gallons of water per week and there is no obvious explanation: * Check the temperature settings and gasket on the door and ash drawer to ensure the furnace is not over temperature and steaming. * Check the perimeter of the furnace for water puddles collecting or dripping from the furnace. * Check all plumbing in the system to ensure there are no leaks.

  If there is a chimney fire: * Make sure the firebox and ash pan doors are tightly closed. * Close all combustion air inlets on the furnace.
