If you're having to fill your Heatmaster furnace with water more than once a week or more than a few gallons of water per week without an obvious reason, check the temperature settings and the gasket on the door and ash drawer to ensure the furnace is not over temperature and steaming. Inspect the perimeter of the furnace for water puddles or dripping. Check all plumbing in the system for leaks.

      Michelle HowellAug 25, 2025
If the water in your Heatmaster furnace is hot, but your buildings aren't receiving heat: * Ensure all pumps in the system are running. * Check the filler cartridge for flow blockage (if one is installed). * Bleed off any air in the system at the exchanger. * Confirm that all valves are open to allow water flow. * Check the water temperature as it exits the furnace, enters the building, and before and after each heat exchanger.

What to do if Heatmaster C-250 overheats?
    • S
      Susan JohnsonAug 26, 2025
If your Heatmaster furnace is overheating: * Check that all doors are closing properly and that the door gasket is completely sealing. * Check that the damper plate is opening and closing without hang-ups. * Check venting and fan box on rear of furnace for air leaks. * Verify that the temperature settings are correct. The furnace should be set on Heating Mode (H1) and the high temperature setting should be set no higher than 185° F. * Examine the chimney draft. A chimney extended too far or exposed to strong winds may cause a downdraft. * Check the water level. * Ensure the door and ash drawer are airtight. * Confirm all pumps in the system are running.

How to deal with excessive creosote in Heatmaster C-250 Furnace?
    • C
      Charles ClementsSep 18, 2025
If you are experiencing an excessive amount of creosote in either the firebox or bypass of your Heatmaster Furnace, check to ensure the furnace is sized accurately according to heat demand. If the chimney and/or bypass become plugged with creosote it will be necessary to scrape the creosote out to obtain a proper burn in the firebox.

If your Heatmaster Furnace is overheating, check that all doors are closing properly and that the door gasket is completely sealing. Also, check that the solenoid damper plate is opening and closing without hang-ups. Inspect the venting and fan box on the rear of the furnace for air leaks. Ensure that the temperature settings are correct. Check the chimney draft; if it's extended too far or exposed to strong winds, it may cause a draft down the furnace. Verify the water level and make sure the door and ash drawer are airtight. Finally, ensure all pumps in the system are running.
