Installation and operation Instruction
4.1 Pre-Installation for
use in general service
Verify the actuators nameplate to insure correct model number, torque, operating speed,
voltage and enclosure type before installation or operation.
It is important to verify that the output torque of the actuator is appropriate for the torque
requirements of the valve and that the actuator duty cycle is appropriate for the intended
application.

Installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs and modification work must only be
performed by qualified personnel with extensive knowledge on how to work on explosion-proof
electrical equipment.

Read this installation and maintenance manual carefully and completely
before attempting to install, operate, or troubleshoot any HKC actuator.
4.2 Actuator Mounting
Note :
Prior to mounting, the actuator must be checked for any damage.
Damaged parts must be replaced by original spare parts.
Mounting is most easily carried out with the valve shaft pointing vertically upward. But
mounting is also possible in any other position.
The actuator may be mounted in any position
The HM- Series actuators are supplied with a female drive output. ISO5210&5211 or MSS
SP-101. Bolt patterns are provided for actuator mounting. The actuator drive bush is
removable for ease of machining.
It is mandatory that the actuator be firmly secured to a sturdy mounting bracket or directly
mounted to the valve’s ISO mounting pad. High tensile bolts or studs with spring locking
washers must be used.
The valve output shaft must be inline with the actuator output drive to avoid side-loading the
shaft. To avoid any backlash no flexibility in the mounting bracket or mounting should be
allowed.
