Gear Oil Check/Change Oil Level Check/Refilling

GEAR OIL BOTTLE
DRAIN PLUG
LEVEL PLUG
Position the outboard motor
vertically.
Remove the level plug and see if
oil flows out.
If no oil comes out, fill through the
drain plug hole until the oil starts to
flow out through the level plug hole.
If there is water in the oil, the water
will flow out first when the drain
plug is removed, or the oil will be a
milky color. If water is detected in
the oil, consult with an authorized
Honda outboard motor deale r.
We recommend that you use the
optional gear oil bottle to fill the
gear oil easily.
Instal l and tighten the drain plug
and level plug securely.
SAE 90 Hypoid gear oil or
equivalent, API Service
Classification (GL-4)
20 hours or first month after initial
use for initial change, then every 6
months or 100 hours.
