In MSU mode, requests are handled according to the diagram shown in
FIGURE 1-9.

If, in Normal mode, a request is sent to a gauge connected to a
downlink CIU, and the address of the CIU or the address of the gauge
does not match, time-outs will occur and notifications of these time-outs
will be sent to the host system. In MSU mode, on the other hand, no
time-out replies will be sent.
1.4 CIU Emulation in a redundant setup
If two CIU 888s are configured as a redundant pair and CIU Emulation
is enabled, GPU requests sent to the secondary CIU 888 will be
ignored.
