3 Using the keyboard base
Your tablet includes a full-size, detachable Bluetooth keyboard base for easy navigation. After the keyboard
base is paired, you can use the keyboard base either attached or detached from the tablet.
IMPORTANT: Before you can use your keyboard base, you must pair the keyboard base with the tablet to
establish a connection. See
Pairing the keyboard base on page 14 for more information.
Keyboard base components

Component Description
(1) esc key Displays system information when pressed in combination with
the fn key.
(2) Action keys Execute frequently used system functions.
NOTE: On select models, the f5 action key turns the keyboard
base backlight feature off or on.
(3) Docking connector Connects the tablet to the keyboard base (for keyboard charging
only).
(4) Keyboard base on/off switch Turns the keyboard base on and off.
(5) fn key Executes frequently used system functions when pressed in
combination with the esc key or the b key.
(6)
Windows key Returns you to the Start screen from an open app or the Windows
desktop.
