Fan assembly 858970-001
IMPORTANT: Make special note of each screw and screw lock size and location during removal
and replacement.
Before removing the heat sink and the fan, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by rst unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the base enclosure (see Base enclosure on page 32).
5. Disconnect the cable from the battery.
Remove the fan assembly:
1. Disconnect the fan cables from the system board (1), and then release the cables from the threading
channels in the fan (2).
2. Remove the 4 Phillips M2.0x5.0 screws from the fans (3), and then lift the fan assembly to remove it (4).
Reverse this procedure to install the fan assembly.
IMPORTANT: When replacing the fans, you must install the left fan rst.
