RTC battery 857798-001
Before removing the RTC battery, follow these steps:
1. Turn o the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is o or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the following components:
a. Bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 33)
b. Battery (see Battery on page 34)
c. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 37)
d. Solid-state drive (see Solid-state drive on page 39)
e. WWAN module (see WWAN module on page 40)
f. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 43)
g. Internal frame (see Internal frame on page 47)
h. System board (see System board on page 65)
To remove the RTC battery:

Disconnect the RTC battery cable from the system board (1), and then pry the RTC battery from the
system board (2).
Reverse this procedure to install the RTC battery.
