Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) is an industry standard that provides better manageability and more
secured configuration while interacting with your server at boot time. HP ProLiant Gen9 platform defaults to UEFI
and can be factory or field configured for Legacy BIOS Boot Mode.
NOTE: The UEFI System Utilities function is analogous to the HP ROM-Based Setup Utility (RBSU) of legacy BIOS. For

UEFI enables numerous new capabilities specific to HP ProLiant servers such as:
Secure Boot
Operating system specific functionality
Support for > 2.2 TB (using GPT) boot drives
USB 3.0 Stack
Embedded UEFI Shell
Mass Configuration Deployment Tool using HP RESTful API.
PXE boot support for IPv6 networks
Boot support for option cards that only support a UEFI option ROM
