Selecting the network to connect to when roaming
Your phone is set to Global mode and we’ve designed it to
automatically search for the appropriate network in your location
(CDMA or GSM) and then connect to it.
Press HOME
> MENU , and then tap Settings.
Tap Wireless & networks > Call > Preferred Network, and then
select CDMA Mode or GSM / UMTS Mode.
If you selected GSM / UMTS Mode, you can choose to connect to:
GSM / UMTS Dual. Your phone automatically connects to a 2G
or 3G network, whichever is available.
GSM only. Your phone connects only to the 2G (GPRS or
EDGE) network. Choose this option when you don’t need fast
data connection. Your phone will also use less power if you
choose this option.
UMTS only
. Your phone connects only to the 3G network.
Choose this option when you need fast data connection. Your
phone will also use more power if you choose this option.
Wi-Fi
To use Wi-Fi on your phone, you need access to a wireless access
point or “hotspot”. The availability and strength of the Wi-Fi signal will
vary depending on objects, such as buildings or simply a wall between
rooms, the Wi-Fi signal has to pass through.
Turning Wi-Fi on and connecting to a wireless network
Press HOME > MENU , and then tap Settings.
Tap Wireless & networks, and then select the Wi-Fi check box
