spans
more than
one
line of

screen,
the
insert
operates
in
the
entire
field.
Print:
The
Print
function
causes
the
current
screen
to
be
printed.

RESET: You
can
use
the
Reset
function to
recover
from an inhibited local function
that
has
resulted in a keyboard-locked condition. The Reset function
does
not
reset a locked condition resulting from a command being executed for the terminal
(X
( ) on the status
line).
When
your keyboard is
locked,
symbolsappear in the
Operator Information Area
(OIA)
ofthe display. The Reset
function
also can be
used
for
the
following:
•
To
clear
IDENT
•
To
turn
off
Insert
mode
•
To
remove
a
host
descriptor.
If
none
of
these
conditions exists,
pressing
RESET
clears
any keystrokes
previously
entered
but not yet
processed
by the 3174.
SYS
REQ
(System Request): You can use the SYS
REQ
function to switch from
communication with your application program to communication with
the
host
control program
(SNA
only). On
non-SNA
attached terminals, X
-f
is displayed for
nonsupported terminals when SYS
REQ
is pressed. SYS
REQ
causes the screen to
be
cleared.
You
can log offyour application program using the
SYS
REQ
function. Enter the
SYS
REQ
key sequence to communicate withthe host control program and then
enter
the
logoff
command.

communicating withthe host control

TEST:
The
TEST function
starts
and
ends
some
problem
determination
functions.
Afterthe display screen is cleared, the cursor is placed in the first position ofthe
first line.

Non-3270
Functions
The
following
functions are available by entering keysequences. Although the
functions
are
not
normal
3270 functions,
they
are
provided
by
the
3174.
BREAK:
The
BREAK
function allows you to disconnect from
the
controller. (The
disconnect process may take up to 5 seconds on switched connections.) Switched
connections
must
be
re-established;
nonswitched
connections
are
re-established
immediately. Afresh autobaud and promptingsequence may be necessary for
nonswitched
connections.
Refresh:
The
Refresh
function
causes
the
3174 to
clear
your
display
screen
and
send the screen image again. This function is most useful when you
are
using a
dial-in facility and communication
errors
cause
incorrect
characters
to
appear
on
the
screen.
Resume
Print:
The
Resume
Print
function
allows
data
to
be
sent
to a
shared
printer.
